Winter break wraps up this weekend, and with it, a full slate of activities for kids and families in Boston. Many of the special events we highlighted in our February vacation roundup continue through the weekend, including Built to Last at the USS Constitution Museum, Charlestown. Jack and the Beanstalk - Puppet Showplace Theatre, Brookline

You may think you know the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, but you've never seen a version like this. Join David Stephens and All Hands Productions for a different look at the tale of Jack and his encounters with some magic beans, a beanstalk, a giant and some other fairytale favorites.


2013 New England Boat Show - Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, Boston
Through 2/24
Adults $15; Children under 16 FREE

Visitors can see the newest boats from the region’s top dealers, along with a wide selection of marine accessories and special features. Plus, over 250 exhibits of the latest in marine accessories. The show also has seminars, clinics, and giveaways and contests.

Kids can enjoy the Remote Control Sailing Pond, where visitors can test their skills as the skippers of a radio-controlled sailboat regatta. Once behind the helm, participants can race friends or the clock to show off their speedy sailor skills.


Honk! - Boston Center for the Arts, Boston

Boston Children's Theatre presents a musical based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling. This entertaining family musical tells the story of a young bird named Ugly whose unusual and awkward appearance triggers prejudice and ridicule among his family and friends.


Oliver - Wheelock Family Theatre, Boston

The highly charged and lively musical by Lionel Bart is based on Charles Dickens' classic Oliver Twist. Lighter in mood than the original novel, yet still mocking hypocrisy, the themes remain the same: the search for love, the triumph of right over wrong, the hope for a better world, and the belief that life is worth living.


Family Day - Mass College of Art and Design, Boston

Visitors are invited to drop in to enjoy art-making, writing, guided conversations, games, and take-home creations. Activities are tailored to the current exhibition's theme.


Matt Roberts presents Now That’s What I Call MAGIC! - Regent Theatre, Arlington

Matt Robert's performance features clean comedy, astonishing magic, lots of audience participation and plenty of surprises.


Family Concert with the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra - Arlington Town Hall

The Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra presents a family concert called The Magnificent Sounds of the Orchestra and including: Britten's Young People’s Guide to the Orchestra, Op 34; Weinberger's Polka and Fugue from Schwanda the Bagpiper; and Tchaikovsky's Pezzo Capriccioso, Op.62.


Kids' Shows: The Airborne Comedians - Coolidge Corner Theatre, Brookine

The Airborne Comedians are two performers who’ve traveled the globe performing their high energy, unorthodox comedy juggling show to the delight of all ages. Dan Foley and Joel Harris throw and catch birdbaths, lawn-chairs, electric guitars and baseball bats in their hilarious juggling routines while balanced atop 6 and 7-foot high unicycles! A sure bet to make you laugh.
