Whether you're looking for one last blast of summer or ready to jump into fall, we've got you covered with the best activities and destinations for families every single day.
Our weekday event picks for Monday, September 14-Friday, September 18, include the debut of the Children's Museum of the Arts' latest exhibit, a guided nature tour on Randall's Island and an alfresco film screening. Monday, September 14
If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Opening – Hudson Square
Head to the Children's Museum of the Arts to check out its new display featuring contemporary artists' creative takes on cartography. These pieces hark back to when maps were considered works of art and sometimes included mythical creatures. Afterward, enjoy everything else the hands-on museum has to offer including a variety of art stations and the ever-popular ball pond. Free with museum admission.
Tuesday, September 15
Wetlands Tour – Randall's Island
Spot wildflowers, birds and other creatures on this guided tour of Randall's Island's wetlands. Afterward, stick around and enjoy all the other things to do on the activity-packed isle. FREE

- Take a spin on the Battery's stunning new SeaGlass Carousel or check out another recently opened NYC attraction.
- Indulge in rides and amazing food at Little Italy's 89th annual Feast of San Gennaro.
- Head to Brooklyn Bridge Park to explore the interactive installation Please Touch the Art, followed by a ride on Jane's Carousel and playtime at Pier 6.
- While the beach is closed for the season, Coney Island's other attractions are open, including the New York Aquarium, Luna Park and Deno's Wonder Wheel.
- Kick off fall with an apple-picking day trip—lots of orchards are less than an hour from NYC and a few are even accessible via mass transit.
- Play mini golf, romp in the Interactive Sculpture Garden or just relax in the red hammocks on Governors Island, which is open daily through September 27.
