What a whirlwind of a week it was as our spring break staycation went out with a beautiful bang. My daughter and I hit the annual Easter Parade last Sunday (check out our slide show above), took photos in front of all 260 designer-made Fabergé egg sculptures at Rockefeller Center (they're on view through this Friday, April 25) and spent many hours running amok in Central Park with friends. And though reality and our normal work/school routines have set back in, it just means we need to pack that much more fun into our spring weekends.

Speaking of, this weekend brings many annual family favorites in NYC like the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Sakura Matsuri: Cherry Blossom Festival and the old-school Street Games in East Harlem. (We're personally hoping to hit both—we'll see if that works out.) My daughter is also dying to see Disney's new nature-themed documentary Bears and our L.A. site has a wonderful parent review of the film. If you're looking for an excuse to get out of town for a day trip this spring, there are some destination-worth festivals coming up in Westchester, Long Island and Connecticut, and our New Jersey site just did a wonderful profile of Cape May, the nation's oldest seaside resort.

Looking ahead to next weekend, Mommy Poppins NYC is thrilled to be partnering with Code.org and Girls Who Code to present Coding + Cupcakes, a pair of FREE computer programing events exclusively for moms and daughters in honor of Mother's Day. Although both sessions are currently sold out, we are taking names for the wait lists so add yours and if spots open up we'll confirm the day before.
