My friend, Sara, and I were talking about how great it is to go to school fairs. I especially love them when they have rummage sales, which are great for picking up gently used clothing and toys. Our events calendar is back up (YAY!) and we've got some school fairs listed in there for this weekend. If your school is having a fair or other event please send me the info and we will post them on the site. We love school fairs!

This weekend is also jam packed with craft and holiday fairs. If you missed our post earlier this week on the Craft Fairs, Sample Sales and other Holiday Shopping Events go check it out. These are awesome events. And of course we are still giving away lots of tickets to New York Shop, which is this weekend. Leave a comment on this post to win a pair of tickets.

Erin, our new Bronx contributor, has posted a bunch of fun off the beaten track Holiday activities in the Bronx. Cool. And there's the free Milkshake Concert on Saturday that everyone is raving about.

Oh and don't forget about all the Christmas Tree lightings and Santas, plus, in our Holiday Guide you'll also find lots of other holiday activities like visiting the Department Store Holiday Windows and Holiday Train Shows.

And that's just the beginning, here are my family event picks for this weekend:

OUR LATEST VIDEOS

Festival of Fun and Merriment

St John the Divine [map]

What could be better than fun and merriment? Find almost 100 artists and musicians and lots of workshops. From bagpipes, to African drums to Tibetan horns, fringe theater, storytelling, comedy, origami and costume workshops. It sounds like a medieval marketplace like you see in the movies.

You know what I love about htis festival, besides the fact that Philip Petit, the tight-rope walker who walked between the World Trade Center, will be performing? I love that it starts at 9:45 so I can get there early before it gets crowded.

St Nicholas Festival and Concert

Trinity Church, Lower Manhattan

Traditional carols and holiday songs will be sung by the choir. Ol' Saint Nick will give presents to all the good little boys and girls.

The Pregnant New Yorker Alternative Health Event
Saturday, December 6, 2008, 1:30-3:30pm
Erika Bloom Pilates Studio, 795 Madison Avenue (at 67th st)

If you're wondering about how accupuncture, pilates, massage and even the "mind-body" connection could help you through a pregnancy, this free event will help you answer your questions with a winning combo of experts and goodie bags. Free but please register .

Winter Family Day Celebration

Morgan Library and Museum
Free with museum admission (free for children under 12)
