See how high you can fly a kite during Kite Day at Terhune Orchards, get the buzz on bees at Morris Museum’s Bee Box Inspection or gear up for a day of springtime food and fun at the Hoboken Arts & Music Festival. Kite Day (Princeton, NJ)
Kite Day is a perfect time to explore the beautiful Terhune Orchards at the start of the bountiful spring produce season! Bring your own kite (or purchase one from the store) and try your hand at flying it in their 10 acre pasture with the farm animals looking on. The whole family can then enjoy a huge cookout, sheep shearing demos, wagon rides and more.

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Budd Lake, NJ)
Head to the Pax Amicus Castle to see a new musical based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip, Peanuts. Follow the adventures of Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang as they battle with kites, school, baseball and misunderstandings before finally coming to realize what makes them truly happy.

Saturday, May 3rd

Super Science Saturday (Trenton, NJ)
Don’t miss the New Jersey State Museum’s largest event of the year – Super Science Saturday! Visit Drawn to Dinosaurs to see a full size Hadrosaurus specimen, have the kids get hands on with technology and engineering at the NANO exhibit and grab a Passport to Science to get stamps as you play archeologist and visit each booth.

Ar-B-Que for Arbor Day (Short Hills, NJ)
The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum is still celebrating Arbor Day! Grab the family and head on over for a day of environmental fun with live animal exhibits, a scavenger hunt through the trails and even a cupcake decorating station. Famous Dave’s BBQ will be on hand to keep everyone full and happy!

NJ Goes Native (Alpine, NJ)
Palisades Interstate Park is hosting a special nature event this Saturday. Check out an impressive native plant sale, sign up for a guided hike, sit back and take in an informational presentation and let the kids partake in some spring craft projects.

Bee Box Inspection (Morristown, NJ)
Take your little insect lover to the Morris Museum and learn all about busy bees. Watch as beekeepers check on a hive started in April to see if the bees are adjusting to their new home.  Then learn more about the hive and the honey making process.

Sunday, May 4th

Mother’s Day Breakfast & Craft (Florham Park, NJ)
Get a jump start on some Mother’s Day family time at Imagine That! Children’s Museum. Families will enjoy a light breakfast before the kids roll up their sleeves and get to work on a Mother’s Day card project that will make mom smile. Kids and parents are invited to spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the museum.

Bats for Beginners (Tenafly, NJ)
Bats sometimes get a spooky rap, but these nocturnal creatures are fascinating! Head to Tenafly Nature Center this Sunday evening and learn how bats use echolocation to play a vital ecological role as the only flying mammal in New Jersey. Then walk along one of the trails with an environmental educator and use a sonar detector to search for signs of bat life.

Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival (Hoboken, NJ)
This annual festival (going on its 20th year!) is a perfect way to spend a spring Sunday. Stroll through the streets of Hoboken and check out over 300 local artists, restaurants and businesses. Three live stages will have ongoing music performances and a children’s area will be set up with kid-friendly rides, face painting, games, sand art and more.
