Halloween Round Up: What to do with Leftover Halloween Candy, Our Halloween Slideshow and the Rally for Sanity
Halloween's Over, although the sugar buzz may still be lingering. I hope you had a really fun day (or several days, more likely). We went trick or treating and snapped some pictures of kids around the neighborhood with really creative costumes. I also have some tips on how your kids can sell their Halloween candy or donate it to a good cause. Lastly, I wanted to share some poignant images from another silly event this weekend, Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity.

Our Halloween Slideshow: We had a great time trick or treating in Tribeca this weekend and snapped lots of shots of all the kids (and some other folks) in their awesome costumes. From adorable bubble babies to a trio of donuts, check out our Halloween Slideshow:
What to do with Leftover Halloween Candy: If you're wondering what to do with all your leftover Halloween candy, here are some ideas:
Sell back your candy. Many dentists will buy back candy for $1 a pound and then donate it to Operation Gratitude which ships it to deployed US military stationed overseas. You can see participating dentists near you on the Operation Gratitude website.
In addition to the dentists listed, Tribeca Dental Studio at 54 Warren buys back candy for $1 a pound as does the Learning Express Toy Store on Second Ave and 26th St.
If you want to switch your kids' candy for a toy, the Tribeca kids' boutique, Torly Kids, will give 10% off your next purchase and donate your children's candy to The Food Bank for NYC to distribute on Thanksgiving.
Here are some other places you can donate Halloween candy.
Also this weekend: This weekend something very silly happened. People dressed up in funny outfits and took to the streets. No, not for Halloween, but for Sanity. If you haven't heard about Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity. The idea was to push back against the way the media and politicians portray Americans as far Left or far Right extremists polarized and outraged. Stewart's rally brought out hundreds of thousands of normal people who want America to know that they might not agree with you, but they respect your opinion. You can see clips from the rally to Restore Sanity online, but I really liked just checking out all the awesome signs people made for the rally.
