Rodeos in New Jersey??

Rodeos in New Jersey? While a state like Texas is usually associated with all things western, New Jersey families may be surprised to know that they can experience the “wild west” much like their Texan counterparts. Rodeos are alive and well here in the Garden State. In fact, many events can be found close to home and are cheap to watch. Strap on your best cowboy boots and check out some of these thrilling horse and rider shows.

Cowtown Rodeo (Pilesgrove, NJ)
Cowtown Rodeo is a family run professional rodeo which has been entertaining the masses since 1929. Shows are every Saturday night starting at 7:30pm. Events include bull riding, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping and tie-down roping. Tickets can be printed at home and are $15 for adults and $10 for children (12 and under).

Legacy Ranch All American Rodeo (Howell, NJ)
Legacy Ranch is centrally located in Monmouth County near shore points. It has been family owned and operated for 10 years. Their All-American Rodeo offers bull riding, barrel racing and other rodeo events. There are also pony rides and a petting zoo     for the younger set. Costs begin at $5 for kids 12 and under; adults are $10. The remaining shows start at 1pm on 8/18, 9/22 and 10/27. Call 732-278-4547 for more information.

Game Horse Association of New Jersey (Newfield, NJ)
The Game Horse Association of NJ was started in 1976 to promote gamesmanship and friendly competition between a group of horse lovers. It has grown into a group of over 60 riders who compete in gymkhana events that include barrel racing, poles, and baton, stake and plug racing. Spectators are welcome to watch for free. Shows are held Saturdays during the summer months at 5:30pm and in the fall at 10am Sundays at Piney Lane Farm. Check their website for shows and possible rain-outs. There is a refreshment stand and private bathrooms for the fans’ convenience.

Dream Park of Gloucester County Luck of the Draw Rodeo (Swedesboro, NJ)
The Dream Park of Gloucester County is a beautiful facility featuring a temperature controlled indoor arena with bleacher seating for 600 spectators, and a separate area for auctions, exhibits, or off season instructional clinics. The building has restrooms and a concession area. The Luck of the Draw Rodeo will perform 8/11 and 25th, and 9/1, 15th and 29th. Shows feature bull riding, barrel racing and cowgirl racers. Admission is $5 and all shows start at 4pm.
