WeeWork Recipes: Easy Homemade Fruit Leather

Fruit roll-ups seem like a good snack choice for kids, but look closely at the label of ingredients on a box of store bought fruit leather and you’ll find most brands are loaded with sugar. But it's easy to get in the kitchen with your kids and make your own. With this easy fruit leather recipe, you control the ingredients for a healthier snack to put in lunch boxes or at snack time.

Ingredients: 
1 1/2 lb fresh strawberries 
1 lb fresh blueberries 
6 oz fresh blackberries 
4 tablespoons orange juice 
3 tablespoons honey 
 
Pre-heated oven at 170F. 
 
1. Put stemmed and washed berries and other ingredients in a pot and cook over low heat for about 25 minutes until the berries begin to break down. Then mash. 
 
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the berry mixture in a line down the middle of the parchment paper. Then spread the berry mixture toward the edges of the pan to create a thin, even layer. 
 
3. Bake for about 4 hours, allow to cool and then cut into strips. You can roll the finished strips and stick in a sealed container. They will keep for about a week and be ready for a healthy snack any time.
