Fun and Free Things to Do for Kids and Families in Boston - Weekend Picks for 9/17-9/18

9/14/11 - By Audrey Trieschman

This weekend brings the first hint of fall, and our weekend roundup includes a mix of outdoor activities, from RiverSing in Cambridge to Arlington’s town festival to the Trails & Sails on the North Shore, and indoor events, like a Pirate Day story time at the Harvard Coop and a comedic interpretation of the classic Hound of the Baskervilles. And it’s still a great time to plan an apple picking adventure or a trip to a museum to see one of the new fall exhibits.

Hound of the Baskervilles

Three actors, sixteen roles… The fast-paced production is a comedic retelling of the classic Sherlock Holmes novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which tells the tale of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a phantom hound.

The theater is comfortable and small enough so most seats are close to the action. Kids can enjoy the actors’ quick costume turnarounds, spooky music, and sight gags and still get the whole story of The Hound of the Baskervilles.
