With a metro population of six million people, Atlanta boasts world-class museums, sporting events, theaters, shopping, and restaurants, as well as fantastic hotels and spa resorts. Whether your family desires outdoor amenities, like fully loaded pools and water features, or indoor attractions, like family movie nights, these Atlanta spa resorts and hotels are perfect for guests of all ages.  

We’ve also rounded up kid-friendly spa resorts way beyond the perimeter (still within 90 miles of Atlanta). Callaway Resort and Gardens Lodge and Spa – Pine Mountain

Nestled in the heart of Callaway Gardens, just 75 miles south of downtown Atlanta, lies the Lodge and Spa. Each spa resort room contains a refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and balconies. Dine at the Piedmont Room, eat outside at Cason’s Tap Room, or enjoy other restaurants sprinkled throughout the gardens. Ride along 10 miles of bike trails, visit the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, watch the Birds of Prey show, zipline, enjoy beach activities, and much more. For those families signed up for the Summer Family Adventure program, enjoy trivia night, s’mores, and weekly fireworks during the evenings. Lodge rooms are available, but many families book the 2-bedroom cottages with screened-in porches, kitchens, grills, and coin-operated laundry facilities for more space.

Great Wolf Lodge – LaGrange

All overnight stays at Great Wolf Lodge include full access to the 93,000-square-foot water park boasting slides, a lazy river, and wave pool. Non-water activities include gem mining, miniature golf, ropes course, climbing wall, and gaming den. Kids love the Wolf Den and Kid Cabin-themed suites, both with bunk beds. There are multiple dining options, from pizza and barbecue to Ben & Jerry's ice cream. If it's hard to get kids to leave all the fun activities for mealtime, food and drinks can be delivered to pool cabanas (available for rent). Lanier Islands Legacy Lodge – Buford

Legacy Lodge at Lanier Islands features exclusive use of the heated saltwater pool, fire pits, and a game room with foosball and pool tables. Guests can bring dogs under 75 pounds for an additional $100 fee. While Lanier Islands provides hiking trails, lake activities, and golf, the biggest draw during the summer is Margaritaville Water Park. When booking your stay at the Legacy Lodge, look into the Family Fun Package which includes four tickets to the water park and breakfast.

The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee - Greensboro

For a vacation that will please parents and kids alike, visit the Ritz-Carlton on Lake Oconee, 85 miles east of Atlanta. Your children can sign the guest book at check-in, go on a scavenger hunt, and take a 10-minute locomotive ride. Reserve the in-room camping package where this spa resort sets up a tent with sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight, stuffed animal, and storybook for your little ones. The Ritz Kids Clubhouse provides an aquarium and play space with arcade games. Sign children up for the half-day or full-day Ritz Kids Lake Adventure with fishing, sports, and nature programs. The Inn at Serenbe – Chattahoochee Hills

Thirty miles south of downtown Atlanta, the 1,200-acre Serenbe community allows families to reconnect with nature. The Inn at Serenbe offers plush accommodations with rooms and cottages featuring complimentary breakfast. The Inn has horseback rides, animal feedings, hayrides, hiking trails, and evening bonfires (with s’mores kits). During June and July, book a five-night stay for a guaranteed spot for children ages 3-12 at Camp Serenbe (an extra $350 fee). While little ones enjoy camp activities, parents can relax at the spa, take a yoga class, or eat at one of the farm-to-table restaurants.
