Top New England Camping Spots: Family Campgrounds in Vermont 

Brattleboro North KOA Journey - East Dummerston, Vt 

It’s no secret that this KOA is one of our favorite places to visit. The Brattleboro-based KOA campground offers plenty of activities for kids. There are weekly ice cream socials, arts and crafts, outdoor games, and playgrounds. There's also a seasonal pool, arcade, ball courts, and access to the neighboring farm’s "Working Lands Walk."

Button Bay State Park - Ferrisburgh, Vt 

Overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains lies Button Bay State Park’s campground. This site is a great spot for learning about Vermont’s natural and cultural history. The campground has access to a swimming pool with lifeguards. There's also a nature center with a wide variety of ranger-lead programs all season.   

Little River State Park - Waterbury, Vt

Another popular state park campground, Little River is central Vermont’s most popular and largest campground.  The campground offers swimming beaches, play areas, and ball fields. There's also a boat launch and boat rentals for campers. Nearby, families can also explore miles of hiking trails that offer a glimpse into the cultural and natural history of the area.

Getaway Mountain Campground - Ascunty- Vt

Getaway Mountain Campground encompasses 59 acres of beautiful scenery. There are 100 campsites for tents and RVs. Getaway Mountain’s heated pool is always a big winner with the kids. The campground has special fun activities like live music, bonfires, potluck dinners, bingo nights, and wagon rides.

Top New England Camping Spots: Family Campgrounds in New Hampshire 

Jellystone - Glen, NH

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone offers campers the “best vacation ever!” With an extensive list of family-friendly features, it is easy to see why. Jellystone has a beach and swimming hole, the action packed Water Zone, mini golf, a jumping pillow, and more. It's almost impossible to be bored at Jellystone.   

Israel River Campground - Jefferson, NH 

Located in the heart of the White Mountains, Israel River Campground is all about making family memories. Spend your days swimming in the pool, playing volleyball, biking, hiking, fishing, and so much more. Plus, this convenient location lets you visit local attractions like Santa’s Village, the Flume Gorge, and Story Land. 

Bear Brook State Park - Allenstown, NH 

Bear Brook State Park offers campers with two options: the 101 site campground at Beaver Pond or the cabins near Bear Hill Pond. This NH state park has a long list of outdoor activities like hiking, biking, archery, swimming, and fishing. There are also forty miles of trails through the heavily forested park that lead to marshes, bogs, summits, and ponds.

Gunstock Mountain Resort - Gilford, NH 

You may have heard of this popular resort, but did you know that Gunstock also offers a campground? Nestled into the heart of New Hampshire's Lakes Region, the Gunstock Campground offers a pool, and miles of trails to explore on foot or on a mountain bike. Campers can also take advantage of Gunstock's Adventure Park with its wide variety of adrenaline-pumping activities!

Bar Harbor Oceanside KOA  - Bar Harbor, Me 

Bar Harbor Oceanside KOA is located near Acadia National Park. It seems only natural that this KOA should offer Maine Lobster Bakes! Additionally, this KOA offers family friendly amenities like gaga ball, oceanfront access, a KOA Express Fun Train, and a packed schedule of planned activities. 

Bayley’s Camping Resort - Scarborough, Me

Burlingame - Charlestown, RI

Burlingame State Park offers direct access to one of Rhode Island’s largest freshwater ponds. Another huge perk of this campground is its proximity to to so many beautiful Charlestown and Westerly beaches. Nearby attractions also include Atlantic Beach Park, the Watch Hill Carousel, and the Bayview Fun Park.

Whispering Pines - Hope Valley, RI

Nestled among towering pines and spanning 50 acres, Whispering Pines has it all! This campground has a pool, splash pad, barrel train rides, mini golf, playgrounds, weekend kids’ events, and weekend entertainment.

Nickerson State Park - Brewster, Ma 

A trip to Nickerson State Park instantly transports you to a different world with pretty pine forests and crystal-clear freshwater ponds. This state park is like a vacation from your vacation, offering the perfect place to go biking, hiking, or camping as a family.

Pine Acres Family Resort - Oakham, Ma 

Located on 70 beautiful acres beside Lake Dean, Pine Acres Family Resort has a magical way of bringing the outdoors and families together. Kids love to spend time around the resort style pool, splash park, lakeside beaches, mini-golf course, jumping pad, playscape, and more onsite fun. 

Canoe River Campground- Mansfield, Ma 

Near Boston and Cape Cod, Canoe River Campground's location makes it ideal for all kinds of exploration. That is, if you ever make it off the campground! With a list of amenities including two pools, boating, playground, sports facilities, and so much more, that's easier said than done.

Top New England Camping Spots: Family Campgrounds in Connecticut

Lake Compounce - Bristol, Ct

Did you know that one of New England’s most popular amusement parks also has a campground? That’s right! Lake Compouce has its very own campground located within walking distance from the amusement park. As far as family vacations go, this offers the best of both worlds! With fun accommodations like Deluxe Tipis, Cub Huts, and cabins, this vacation will definitely be one for the memory books. 

Odetah - Bozrah, Ct

Located on 500 acres, Odetah offers cabins, tent space, and—get this—yurts! The campground has a 32-acre lake, beach, and a tennis court as well as boat rentals and fishing. There is an on-site cafe, ice cream, a pool, a splash-pad, and a jacuzzi. Themed weekends include: Hawaiian Luau, Under the Sea Week, and Christmas in July. Regular activities are run by the staff and include fun things like tug-o-war, hay rides, and group scavenger hunts.

Mystic KOA - North Stonington 

This KOA is located on a historic site in Southeast Connecticut. It has a swimming pool, WiFi, and even a mini-golf course on site. This KOA offers families a Community Campfire, where employees tell stories, roast s'mores, and entertain kids. The campground also has a playground, dog park, banana bike rental, pool, and on-site catch-and-release fishing. Plus, it’s close to Mystic and all its attractions.
