Awesome Things To Do in New York City in January 2022 With Kids
From New Year's Day to MLK weekend and Lunar New Year, January can be a great time for indoor and outdoor activities. Don't miss our favorite kid-friendly events and activites in New York City this month.
Our Mommy Poppins January forecast of fun is cautiously optimistic. Brooklyn is producing more magic than usual, Governors Island is taking some of the chill out of the air with winter games, ice skating, and fire pits, the Children's Museum of Manhattan is saluting Dr. Martin Luther King and doubling down on science, and the Three Kings are handing out gifts on the Lower East Side. Speaking of Dr. King, BAM's always-moving tribute is back in-person this year and so is Manhattan Country School's annual youth-led march.
If we're unsure about everything else, the one thing we do know is New York is resilient, inventive, and creative. If one show shuts down, another form of entertainment brilliantly appears. We'll be finding ways to celebrate in the great outdoors and safe ways to be together inside. Rest assured, we'll be keeping an eye on this page and updating as we go.
We’re adding more events to our Family Activity Calendar every day, so don’t forget to check it frequently.
Be sure to check with each venue for its COVID guidelines and requirements before heading out to any event, and read more about local public safety protocols here; some events are getting canceled or postponed at the last minute due to the latest COVID surge, so always confirm details before departing.
