Best Roller Skating Rinks in Connecticut for Families

1/1/17 - By Pam Hegner

The thought of a roller rink transports me back to Jordache jeans, feathered hair and and KC and the Sunshine Band blaring on the turntable. Luckily, we've evolved from the 70's and 80's in many areas, but there are still working roller rinks in our fine state. Many have closed due to the popularity of ice rinks, but we did some research so you can introduce your children to the fun of roller skating if you haven't already!

Skate-Inn in Plainfield
Skate lessons on Thursdays and open skate on Friday, Saturday and SundayFamily pizza nights include pizza, drinks, skate rentals and two hours of skating for only $29.95 per family (additional charge per person after six people). There are two party package options that are very reasonable.

Middletown Roller Skating Rink
Open since 1948, this center changed ownership in 2002 when a former Physical Education teacher took over. Public skating lessons for ages five and up are the bread and butter here, promoting family fitness. If you want to skate without kids, try the Rollerdurance workouts on Monday nights. They offer summer camps, private parties and skate rentals from toddler size six to men's 14.

Their "Glow Rooms" with laser light shows are a big hit for birthday parties and other small events.
