Though Foxwoods is often considered the place to go for gambling, it really is a great destination for families too. Featuring great swimming pools, the Tree House Arcade, Sugar Factory, bowling, go-karting, and close access to the impressive Mashantucket Pequot Museum, this hotel will definitely keep the kids happy and entertained. For grown-ups, the Norwich Spa has family and adult swim, massages, facials, and hair and nail services. And coming in 2024: Great Wolf is opening at Foxwoods as well!
Located right on the shore, there is plenty to do and see at Water's Edge. Families will love dinner at the Seaview Bistro or Dattilo Fine Italian Restaurant (yes they have a kids' menu). The in-house spa has a variety of treatments for mom or dad and every room has wifi. Kids will love the indoor and outdoor pools or the (seasonal) private beach. Locally, families will enjoy shopping at the outlets or strolling the property of Gillette Castle State Park.
Kids Quest is paradise for kids, which means it's also perfect for parents. Photo courtesy of Mohegan Sun
Mohegan Sun calls its Kids Quest area a "child's paradise." With non-violent video games, a cafe, gym, basketball court, karaoke stage, and babysitting, it may be a parent's paradise as well! Children as young as 6 weeks and as old as 12 are welcome. Meanwhile, mom and dad can enjoy the Mandara Spa at Mohegan Sun where they can get facials and massages and relax in the steam room or sauna. After that, take the whole family to eat at one of the many restaurants in the casino.

If you're craving a serene getaway, head for the Litchfield Hills. Nestled between two lakes and set on 30 sprawling acres of lawns and gardens, the hotel features traditional rooms, suites with fireplaces, townhouses, or a lakeside cottage with a screened-in porch and outdoor firepit. In addition to the comforts of the inn (massage at the spa anyone?), the area offers opportunities for tons of water activities like kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. Picnic on the grounds, play games in the yard or indoor game room. Off property, you'll be able to enjoy hiking, ziplining in the Berkshires, horse riding, golf, and other year-round attractions.
Winvian Farms, also located in the Litchfield hills, is loaded with history. Set on 113 acres it is quiet and even rustic. Families will love staying at one of the eclectic cottages that sleep up to 4 people. The spa offers yoga, massage, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, and more. Locally, families can enjoy lots of water sports on Bantam Lake. Winvian Farm also offers paint nights, s'more nights, bike rental, and boat rides for an additional cost.
Situated in a marina and within a short walk from Hole-in-the-Wall Beach, Niantic Children's Museum, and Niantic Bay Boardwalk, this charming hotel offers a prime Niantic location. It features free breakfast and WiFi, private balconies, fireplaces, and ocean views. If you have light sleepers in the family, ask for rooms that are farthest from the nearby passing trains. Family getaway packages include three tickets to the children's museum, a voucher for two children's books at the Downtown Book Barn, a $20 credit to Gumdrops & Lollipops, complimentary milk and cookies after dinner, and use of the library (reserved for family board game time).
The Bellissimo offers three levels of suites from luxurious to affordable. Families will probably choose the affordable option with two big beds, in-room wifi, and movies. The whole family will enjoy a dip in the indoor pool, and mom and dad can take turns at the spa. Locally, take a drive over to either Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods, or browse quaint Stonington or places like the Stonington Lighthouse Museum or Ender's Island. Dining
Choose from a room with 2 double beds or a suite with a pull-out couch and enjoy all Norwich Inn has to offer. Room service for dinner sounds good and so does a trip to the spa where you can get a facial or body wrap. Locally, Norwich boasts beaches in season, Dodd Stadium, Yantic Falls, and local escape rooms.
Another destination near the beautiful ocean, Gurney's is an hour and a half from both Hartford and New Haven. Located on Goat Island, Gurney's offers complimentary wi-fi, a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and concierge service.
