Big birthday parties have been on hold the last couple of years, and little ones have waited patiently (or not so patiently) for a big birthday bash, so it's worth the splurge to make this year's birthday a party like no other. However, we're still concerned with keeping things safe with smaller parties and mostly outdoor gatherings. How can you make a smaller, outdoor party feel super special for your preschooler's big day? It's Mickey Mouse to the rescue, with a new party that combines the magic of Disneyland and a private gathering for friends and family.

Disneyland's newest birthday experience is an exclusive party for kids and their crews in Mickey’s House in Mickey’s Toontown. Round up the guest of honor and a few favorite friends and family members for a party filled with sweets, surprises, and a professional photographer to capture all the best moments. Read on for the scoop on this new birthday party at Disneyland that kids will never forget.

Celebrate in Mickey's Toontown

We've all been reaching deep for creative birthday ideas: Zoom parties, lawn signs, drive-by surprises, and small gatherings at exciting locales. Now you can stop brainstorming and leave the magic-making to someone else. Just make the reservation and show up—the Disneyland staff plan and host the party.

And kids will never forget this small, but super special gathering with cupcakes to decorate, crafts and games, and a photo op (no lines!) with Mickey Mouse himself.

There are two reasons this party is pretty exciting: One is that a Disney PhotoPass photographer snaps the festivities and you get complimentary downloads of all the photos. This will be one birthday party where parents end up with super photos that you're both actually in for a change, so everyone can always remember this special day.

The other thing we love about it is that Mickey's Toontown is a huge hit with the preschool crowd, which means it's always crowded. This private party means you get to experience the magic of meeting Mickey without waiting in long lines or facing wall-to-wall tourists. And after the party, you're in your little ones' favorite part of the park, where you can walk to Goofy and Donald’s houses to meet them, too.

“Celebrate! In Mickey’s Toontown” is offered Jan. 19 to March 6, 2022, and the cost is $350 per group of up to 10 guests. Not too expensive! But here's where it gets pricey if your guests aren't passholders: every member of the party must have a valid ticket and reservation for the park on the day of the party. Get all the details, including how to reserve your party, on the Disneyland website.

Keep the Party Going: Make it a Sleepover

Turn your party a sleepover: take advantage of room offers for Southern California residents at Grand Californian or the Disneyland Hotel. Both hotels give you quick entry to Disneyland and California Adventure, with all the benefits and magical touches Disneyland hotels provide (think visits from Princesses, early admission, and towels folded to look like Donald Duck). This way you don't have a long drive home after your birthday party—or post-party, you can let kids nap and recover from the excitement and then return to the park refreshed!

Health and Safety Guidelines at Disneyland

Disney’s Covid precautions include crowd control, indoor mask requirements, and adapted services. Be sure to remind guests that face coverings are required for all guests (ages 2 and up) while indoors, including on many attractions and in enclosed vehicles, regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings remain optional for all guests in outdoor common areas. Certain rides and experiences may be unavailable.
