This Week: Mother's Day Weekend, Yoga Birthday Party Giveaway, Strawberry Picking Near NYC
Mother's Day is the main event on all of our sites, from New York City to Los Angeles. Moms, if you have Sunday all planned out, good for you. (Extra points if your family did all the work.) However, if you're still trying to decide how to celebrate in NYC, we've got lots of great suggestions, plus a roundup of our readers' favorite Mother's Day brunch spots.
In other news, strawberry picking season is in full swing and we've got roundups of family-friendly strawberry picking farms and festivals in Long Island and New Jersey. Another great excuse for a day trip: Outdoor festivals. We've got a list of a few fabulous spring festivals in Connecticut. Meanwhile, our Travel site has a beautiful Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort slide show. If your family still hasn't bought you a Mother's Day gift a vacation there would certainly make a good one.
Here's what else we shared this week on our NYC site.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
Our week kicked off with an awesome kids' yoga birthday party giveaway at brand-new Upper East Side studio Yogi Beans. There's still time to enter.
We continued our coverage of family-friendly Partners in Preservation sites with a visit to the Tenement Museum. Remember, you can help award $3 million to historic NYC sites by voting for your favorites.
We were wowed by the American Natural History Museum's incredible glow-in-the-dark displays in its latest exhibit Creatures of Light: Nature's Bioluminescence.
In honor of National Train Day, which takes over Grand Central Terminal this Saturday, we shared our favorite NYC spots for railfans.
We continued our spotlight on Chelsea with a look at great indoor play spaces and places for kids' classes in the neighborhood.
Ever been to the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers? It's a quick train ride from NYC and features incredible views, a historic house and an out of this world planetarium.
Our education blogger, Blythe, profiled some excellent math camps and summer math programs in NYC.
Best bets for Mother's Day weekend include the sea-themed Hudson River Pageant in lower Manhattan, the Ezra Jack Keats Family Festival: A Snowy Day in May at the central branch of the Brooklyn library and an old-fashioned garden party at the New York Botanical Garden.
However you decide to celebrate this weekend, we wish you a very happy Mother's Day.
