American Girl Doll Meets First American Boy Doll—And You Can Be There

There hasn't been this much chatter about a boy doll since Barbie met Ken. This week—tomorrow to be exact—the country's most must-have line of dolls for the girl who has everything introduces its first ever Y chromosome character: Logan Everett.
Logan plays drums and sports a crisp plaid shirt—pretty much the only kind of guy we could imagine an American Girl doll spending time with. But the folks at American Girl assured me this morning that the friendship between Logan and tomorrow's other new release doll, Tenney Grant, is purely platonic. The two share a love of music (and perfectly coiffed hair, of course), but nothing romantic. Anything beyond that we will have to learn through Tenney Grant's story, since so far Logan only exists as her guy pal.
The release is big news, and American Girl fans who want in on the reveal can attend the First Look Event before opening hours at The Grove in Los Angeles on Thursday morning. Reservations are required for this early morning event; and phone lines are busy, so you need to get on it quickly if you want to be one of the first to meet Logan at his debut. Otherwise, kids can get to know the new American Boy during weekend-long events at American Girl stores on 5th Avenue in New York and The Grove in Los Angeles; in-store concerts, crafts, and giveaways focus on Tenney Grant's story, in which Logan plays a key part.
American Girl sources aren't saying whether any accessories are planned for Logan in the future; currently the poor guy has just the one outfit and his drum kit. He won't hold the interest of any American Girl long if he can't change his outfit, though, so it seems safe to assume that more options are on the way. American Girl sources confirm that he is to be part of the permanent collection, and not a passing Doll of the Year fancy. That seems to imply that some snazzy AG fashion accessories are bound to follow.
