2. Peter Weber Equestrian Center
Tiny cowboys and cowgirls can live out their horse and pony dreams at this equestrian center and petting zoo. The place is reservation-only but offers pony and horse rides, hay rides, and 30-minute petting zoo sessions for anyone who wants to mingle with goats, sheep, and bunnies—all set in a replica Old West facade that your Instagram account will love.

5. Abalone Cove Tidepools
This rocky tidepool beach is the home to a plethora of sea creatures—urchins, sea stars, crabs, snails, small fish, and hermit crabs, to name a few—and your budding marine biologists will love scouring the puddles between the rock crevices to find them. 6. George F Canyon Nature Center & Stein/Hale Nature Trail

It's an easy (and dog-friendly) forested path leading to a summit vista with a view of the LA Basin and Bluff Cove Trail, a short trail off the side of the road that takes hikers down a wide dirt path to a gorgeous hidden cove. 10. Los Arboles/Rocketship Park
Technically, this park is in Torrance, but it's close enough to include for its sheer awesomeness. This space-themed playground has a lunar module and a four-level rocketship to climb with a view of LA that stretches from the San Gabriel Mountains to the ocean.

Strap on some skates at this popular ice skating rink in Palos Verdes with kids. The rink is owned by the LA Kings. When everyone is tired, grab a milkshake or meal at Ruby’s Diner, which has a nice view of the rink from above. Lessons are available, or check the website for public skate times.

17. Wayfarer’s Chapel
Note that Wayfarer's Chapel is indefinitely closed. Surrounded by trees and nestled on the bluffs above the ocean, this stunning chapel designed by Lloyd Wright (son of Frank Lloyd Wright) is made of nothing but wood, stone, and glass, and its unique architecture has attracted visitors since its construction in 1951. Grown-ups will be wowed by the church, while kids will enjoy running around the grounds, which have plenty of spots to sit and take in the view. Note: The inside of the church is currently closed for upgrades.
18. Point Vicente Lighthouse
This 67-foot lighthouse is a Palos Verdes landmark. The grassy areas that surround it make the perfect place for a picnic with stunning views. Want to climb up? The lighthouse tower is open to the public on the second Saturday of each month. Children under seven years old are not allowed up.
19. Point Vicente Interpretive Center
Just next door to the lighthouse, this small museum showcases the history and biodiversity of the region through fun, interactive exhibits. Meanwhile, the outside patio is the designated go-to spot for resident whale watchers, who gather daily with binoculars to document migrating gray whales along the peninsula.
