Mother's Day Weekend Fun for NJ Kids: Children's Festival, Brunch, Green Fest, May 9-10
It looks like it's going to be bright and beautiful this Mother's Day weekend! Spend as much time as you can outside at events like the Beautiful Butterflies, Birds, & Cinco de Mayo fest at Camden Children’s Garden, the Secaucus Green Festival at Secaucus Xchange or Historic Smithville’s Children’s Festival down south. Mother’s Day Craft (Florham Park, NJ)
Bring the whole gang to Imagine That! Children’s Museum to create and paint a teapot for mom – how’s that for a useful gift? Then spend the rest of the day exploring the exhibits from the climb-on fire truck and airplane to the make-believe castle to a room with instruments from around the world.
Beautiful Butterflies, Birds, & Cinco de Mayo (Camden, NJ)
Celebrate the return of Monarch butterflies from Mexico in this butterfly and bird-filled Cinco de Mayo party at the lovely Camden Children’s Garden. The kiddos can create crafts, partake in a planting activity and learn about butterflies inside the Butterfly House.

Historic Smithville Children’s Festival (Smithville, NJ)
Stop by Historic Smithville’s FREE festival for children for tons of family fun including sand art, face painting and live animal presentations. Also check out a performance by the Asian Dance Troupe, Cape May Zoo’s ‘Animal Kingdom’ show, paddle boat and carousel rides.
‘Hooray for May’ Family Art Day (Bedminster, NJ)
For some springtime culture, head to ‘Hooray for May’ at The Center for Contemporary Art. Families are invited for a fun and interactive day of making art - including a variety of creative projects to keep or give on Mother’s Day.
Engineering with the Sun (Pennington, NJ)
This educational program at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed will lead kids (ages 8-12) as they design a building to capture the sun's energy. After examining the new Watershed Center, children will work collaboratively and on their own to build individual models of their passive solar house.
