Celebrate 40 Years of Sesame Street and Get a Limited Edition Library Card
If you haven't noticed, Sesame Street has been celebrating its 40th Birthday. And it's been quite a celebration. They've gotten a street named after them and Google has been doing cute Sesame Street artwork on their homepage. But I think the coolest thing is happening at the Brooklyn Public Library where they are having some special events and kids can get a very special library card.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
This weekend The main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library is hosting a Sesame Street Family Day with Sesame Street-inspired crafts and reading activities, as well as a screening of The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, balloon animals and other fun. Plus Elmo will be there to meet kids and take pictures. Get there early if you want to get a ticket to visit Elmo.
Perhaps the best reason to make a trip to the Family Day though is because it's the first day that kids can sign up for their first library card and get a special limited edition Sesame Street card. These special cards will be available at all Brooklyn Public Library Branches starting November 14. Visit your local library to sign up for a library card, featuring one of Sesame Street's furry monsters. There will be a limited supply of cards. Ask your librarian for more information.
By the way, you can use a Brooklyn Public Library card at NYPL branches after you link your card. And the only requirement for a child to get a library card is they need to be able to write their own name. Bring a piece of mail with your address and your ID to register a child under 12 for a library card.
