Living in Miami and South Florida is like living the summer season all year round. With temperatures ranging from warm to hot and humidity levels that just make you want to cool off, going to your nearest public pool is often on the agenda.

Luckily, there are plenty of public pool options, from Miami to West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, and most communities in between. So take a dip and cool off. While you're at it, why not experience one of the great splash pads or family-friendly beaches across South Florida? You'll be glad you did.

Fun Public Pools for Families Near West Palm Beach, Florida

1. Lake Lytal Family Aquatic Center—West Palm Beach

This pool is open all year round and water is kept between 78 and 82 degrees. This center offers times each day for lap-lane swimming, to use diving boards/slides, play in the children's pool, and open swim. Throughout the year, it offers classes and programs in junior lifeguard camp​, American Red Cross lifeguard certification​​​, American Red Cross water safety instructor certification,​ and American Red Cross CPR certification.

2. Pioneer Park Aquatic Center at Glades Pioneer Park​—Belle Glade

This pool and aquatic center offers a tipping bucket water feature, waterslides, and a year-round water temperature of between 78 and 82 degrees. This pool also offers a learn-to-swim program. Though open all year round, patrons should visit its website as hours vary seasonally.

3. The Swim & Racquet Center—Boca Raton

This facility is open year round and offers a 25-yard long, six-lane pool that is heated during the winter months and cooled during the summer. The average water temperature is between 80 and 83 degrees. Amenities include a heated kiddie pool, splash pad and playground, an aquatic chair lift that meets ADA regulations, locker rooms and showers, and kickboards, noodles, and life vests.

4. Warren Hawkins Aquatic Center—West Palm Beach

Located in Gaines Park and open from May to November, this pool features eight 25-meter lanes with two deep waterslides, a wading pool, and a splash pad that is accessible from the pool deck and park. The pool is fully accessible,  provides shaded areas for families, and offers programming for all ages and abilities. It offers programs such as learn-to-swim, water fitness, water safety instructor, and American Red Cross classes.

Fun Public Pools for Families Near Fort Lauderdale, Florida

5. Calypso Cove—Margate

Open from February to June with changing days and hours, this pool center offers swim lessons, water aerobics, and a swim team. Amenities include a pair of 30-foot waterslides, a lap pool, and a children's water playground.

6. Caporella Aquatic Center—Tamarac

This center offers a 25-yard-by-25-meter pool with a zero-depth entry, avalanche slide, a children's water playground, fitness center with men's and women's locker rooms, and a concession stand. It is open most of the year, but check its website for seasonal changes to hours. This center also offers many fun pool-based events such as dive-in movies and a summer splash with Santa.

7. C.B. Smith Park—Pembroke Pines

This park is open from March through September and offers a sprawling water park with 50-foot-tall waterslides and a lazy river. There are four different water playground areas, all geared toward different ages and interests. Though there is not a conventional-sized pool to splash around in, these different areas provide all the cooling off and fun you need.

8. Croissant Park Pool—Fort Lauderdale

Open most of the year—check website for dates it is closed—this public pool offers lap and recreational swimming, water aerobics, and a water playground. Locker rooms are available for guests, and swim lessons, both group and private, are offered.

Fun Public Pools for Families Near Miami, Florida

9. Miami Springs Aquatic Center—Miami Springs

This aquatic center is open year round and offers a 25-yard outdoor, ADA-accessible pool with amenities for all ages. The pool is divided into three sections: a zero-entry beach area, a 35-foot waterslide, and a 25-yard area for lap swimming. Year-round swim lessons and water aerobics classes are offered for kids starting at age 1. The pool is heated during winter with temperatures ranging between 79 and 83 degrees.

10. Murray Park Aquatic Center—South Miami

This aquatic center was opened in 2014 and operates from mid-March to mid-September, providing a great place to cool off during warmer months. The center features a splash pad and a zero-depth entry pool, making it a fun and safe place for children of all ages and adults.

11. Thomas Sasso Pool and Water Playground—North Miami

This facility is open year round, most days, weather permiting. Check its website for exclusions. It offers six 25-meter swim lanes for recreational and fitness purposes, and a water playground in which small children can splash around and have fun. This great, local family-friendly location also offers youth and adult swim lessons and learn-to-swim classes.

12. Venetian Pool—Coral Gables

The Venetian's hours and days vary with the season, so visit its website page for more information. The pool is fed by spring water from an underground aquifer and is refilled daily. This pool features more than 820,000 gallons of water, two waterfalls, and cave-like grottos for a fun experience for all swimmers. Children must be at least 3 years old and 38 inches tall to use the facility.
