Greetings, everyone! Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) is celebrating Halloween all week, and we need YOU to be part of it! Good Day New York, the Fox 5 morning news show, is coming out to BBG to get everyone excited for Ghouls and Gourds, the Garden's wacky and wonderful Halloween extravaganza this Sunday, October 28. Meteorologist Mike Woods wants to celebrate live on camera with a crowd of costumed kids and families this Thursday, October 25, from 7-9 a.m. This is a special opportunity for kids and parents to have fun and show off their costumes on live television for all to see, PLUS get a glimpse of our amazing ten-foot tall puppets and very possibly a performance by your favorite rockin' mama, Audra Rox! We need to gather as large a crowd as we possibly can.
We at the Garden would be very grateful to have anyone and everyone join us for the morning news, and can offer families that participate free passes for a return trip to BBG with the whole family, a chance to wave to the grandparents, strut and play in that fabulous costume, and most importantly, a morning full of fun! Please email kateblumm@bbg.org to RSVP to join us on Thursday morning, from 7-9 a.m.
All the best-- AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is an incredible institution. We're very lucky to have it here in our backyard. To celebrate Green Week I'm giving away a free copy of their book Gardening with Children, a Tree in a Box, and free tickets to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in our Great Green Giveaway. Before I cracked open Gardening with Children I expected it to be the typical little gardening projects. I was surprised to find, however, that it is actually quite different than any other children's gardening book I've read before. My son was fascinated with it because it is much more about the science behind gardening and understanding nature's cycles, with projects like chlorophyll prints where kids learn about how plants and nature works, not just how to grow a seed. I strongly recommend Gardening with Children to everyone. If you don't win it, go buy it. It would even be a great gift for your science teacher. It's really a curriculum in a book made fun and engaging for kids with hands-on projects. Along with Gardening with Children I'm giving away a Tree in a Box which is a tiny little box that contains a peat pot all ready to grow a great Red Oak Tree. It can be planted outdoors or kept inside as a bonsai. Literally just add water. Very cool. Comment on this post by Sunday, October 28th at Midnight and you'll be entered to win this cool prize. Good Luck.
