Mommy Poppins Expands to Two New Cities
Mommy Poppins is growing, but before I tell you where we are going, I want to take a moment to look back.
I started Mommy Poppins almost five years ago as a New Year's resolution. As I began to write about raising my children and things to do with kids in NYC, I realized that I was quite passionate about the amazing opportunities for families in this city. And for the past four and a half years, I have worked on the site feverishly, with a burning energy I cannot really explain—trying to provide the very best, most unique information for parents on a well-organized and easy-to-use site that doesn't waste your time with a lot of nonsense.
I know that some people come to the site and probably think there is some big corporation behind it, but for a long time I was actually doing everything myself. Then I started having other moms write posts and run the sites. I have been fortunate to find amazing people who are now helping to make the site better than I could have all by myself. (You can read about our team on our About Page).

Having that help also enabled me to do other things, like start Poppins Perks to raise money for NYC public schools, and to add new sites for New Jersey, Long Island and Connecticut. I do believe that Mommy Poppins provides something special for local parents, and today I'm happy to announce that we are expanding to Los Angeles and Boston, bringing Mommy Poppins' unique blend of content, community and event calendar to those two great cities.
You'll find links to all of our sites in the top menu bar, and each site is color coded for easy recognition. You can also follow most of our sites on Twitter and Facebook, just click on the two icons near the top right of any of the sites and it will take you to the correct account. And of course you can sign up for any of our free newsletters, which are the best way to stay informed about everything going on in your area.
We now have seven sites in our network and so many wonderful people contributing to them, but I don't think that much has changed since we started. All of our content is still written by local parents sharing what we love about raising kids in our areas.
I also want to thank all of the people who've supported me along the way. I couldn't possibly list them all here—from other bloggers who helped spread the word when we were just starting up, to the many people who have worked just as passionately on these sites as I have, friends and family who have supported what we've been doing in so many ways, and other great blogs that inspired me by illustrating the amazing things that sites can do. And of course our readers who return again and again to the sites, subscribe to our emails, leave comments and share our posts with their friends via email, Facebook and Twitter.
Before we risk sounding like we're patting ourselves on the back a lot, we know we're not perfect and that there are things we can improve. We do our best and are, literally, constantly working to make the sites better. I hope that you will check out our new sites and tell your friends who live in LA, Boston, CT, NJ or LI that we are there.
