It's summertime, and we've got an idea to add to your list of outdoor destinations to visit with your crew: a family-friendly beer garden. Surprised? Don't be! These venues can be a pretty fun place for the whole family to grab a bite (and a sip) and enjoy some quality together time. Note that many beer gardens have specific times when younger patrons may enter, so be sure to double-check times before you head out.
Family-Friendly Beer Gardens in North Jersey
1. Alementary – Hackensack
The biergarten at Alementary is a great place to try some local beers. Be sure to make a reservation for a seated table, and bring your own food and snacks (they don't serve food). Come early; kid-friendly hours end at 4pm.
2. Cricket Hill Brewery – Fairfield
This kid-friendly establishment offers an expansive array of brew styles, including IPAs, ales, sours, lagers, stouts, porters, and bourbon barrel-aged beers. There's an indoor taproom, plus a small outdoor seating area. Come early to snag a spot.
3. Hudson Hall – Jersey City
Hudson Hall Smokehouse and Biergarten is just the place for you to eat, drink, and be merry. There’s a large rotating menu of craft beers, cocktails, wine, and others drinks to imbibe, while food choices range from sliders and egg rolls to smoked meats and burgers. Save room for dessert: Hot donuts and donut ice cream sandwiches are made to order. Brunch is served on the weekends, and a children's menu is available.
4. RockBottom Morris Patio & Beer Garden – Morristown
This beer garden is open daily for lunch (except Mondays), but becomes a party scene at night, so you’ll want to visit early with kids. There’s a large outdoor patio, and kids can order off the children’s menu or try a bar pizza, burger, or sandwich.

6. Zeppelin Hall – Jersey City
Zeppelin Hall is an authentic European-style biergarten with 30-foot community bench-style seating on the outdoor patio or inside. Oktoberfest beers are brewed year-round and local beers are on tap along with a ton of Belgian beers, IPAs, lagers, and more. Unlike other beer gardens, the kids’ menu (burgers, chicken tenders, and mac & cheese) is available on the later side, until 8pm. But, note: Kids must leave the hall by 9pm.

Beer Gardens That Welcome Children in Central Jersey
7. Alternate Ending Beer Company – Aberdeen
This family-friendly spot often shows family movies on Sunday afternoons on the big screen. It's a win-win for everyone! There's a kids' menu with tacos, meatballs, grilled cheese, and more. The popcorn appetizers keep everyone happy while you wait for the main attraction. Alternative Ending is also pup-friendly, so feel free to let your fur baby tag along.
8. Source Farmhouse Brewery – Colts Neck
This family-friendly establishment is located on a farm where adults can enjoy hand-crafted, farm-to-glass ales and lagers brewed on-site. The first-floor taproom welcomes families with kids, and the beer garden and grounds are open to all, including dogs. Note that the second-floor mezzanine and rooftop terrace are for adults only. There are plenty of kid-friendly snacks available for purchase like popcorn, pretzels, chips, trail mix, and more. There's room to roam on the farm and fun games like cornhole and Giant Jenga to play in the open air.

9. Tre Pizza Pasta Beer Garden – Freehold, Brick
Enjoy delicious Neapolitan pizza and other casual Italian fare on the outdoor patio—kids eat FREE on Tuesdays—here. There's a huge selection of beer, wine, and other cocktails. But, arrive early or get a reservation; this place can be crowded on weekends.

10. Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten – Asbury Park
It’s Jersey Shore meets Europe! Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten mimics an authentic biergarten experience with large tables and live local music. Enjoy premium draft beers while sitting under an umbrella on the rooftop biergarten or hang out in the huge indoor hall. Come on the early side for dinner, and kids can order franks, fish and chips, grilled cheese, or chicken fingers.
11. The Mainland – Manahawkin
A little something for them, a little something for you...the venue has it all. Enjoy the new outdoor Adventure Park with its aerial course, zip lines, climbing wall, go-karts, a play fort, and more. Most activities are for ages 4 or 7 and up. Once you've enjoyed enough family playtime, head over to the pub and restaurant, which also has a beer garden with a view of the ocean.
