Weekend Fun for Westchester Families: Fairs, Military and Air Show, Moonviewing Concert, Aug. 29-30
This weekend is packed with family fun in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley. Good things seem to come in pairs: Two large-scale fairs—the Dutchess County Fair and the New York Renaissance Faire; two military-themed events—Living History: Military Reenactment Day and New York Air Show; and two nature-themed highlights—Muscoot's 40th Birthday and Hands-On Nature Programs for Curious Kids.

Dutchess County Fair - Rhinebeck
The second largest fair in New York State has lots of family fun to offer. Check out the petting zoo, racing pigs, games, rides, music, jugglers, science shows and more.
New York Air Show - Newburgh
Aerial maneuvers, parachute jumps by the Navy SEALS and West Point teams, aircraft displays and more await you at this two-day event featuring military, civilian and historic crafts and performers.
New York Renaissance Faire - Tuxedo Park
This annual festival continues, with features silly fun engendered by lively thespians in period costume bellowing around the grounds. Enjoy games, rides, arts, crafts, food, music and dance. Watch jousting tournaments, meet Robin Hood, enroll in pirate school and marvel at the jugglers, musicians, performances and more.

Living History: Military Reenactment Day - Garrison
See history come to life at this reenactment of wars from the American Revolution through the Civil War. Experience military camp life including tactical weapon demonstrations, inspections, formations, musket firings, artillery demonstrations and drills, as well as a cannon firing to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. The majestic setting and museum house provide additional incentives to attend.

Muscoot's 40th Birthday – Katonah
Beloved Muscoot Farm is throwing itself a birthday party! Have fun touring the grounds and enjoy cake, games, face painting, hay rides and crafts. FREE
Beyond Westchester
Make your way to Queens and help kick off the US Open with Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. Enjoy interactive games, a juggling workshop, tennis and all kinds of family fun entertainment--even watch the pros practice. With the exception of one ticketed concert, all events are FREE.
The 239th Anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn—a week-long celebration of the role of Brooklyn in the Revolutionary War--wraps up this weekend with family-friendly elements. These include the annual commemoration at Green-Wood Cemetery on Sunday (advance registration required), featuring historical reenactments, live period music, old-school games and a soldier-filled parade to the top of Battle Hill. On Saturday, head to Queens for a historical scavenger hunt and other 18th-century fun.
