Is it just me, or does picking a preschool for your child feel like the most monumental decision you have ever been faced with? There are a seemingly endless amount of choices and methods to pick from! From creating your own preschool co-op to more affordable options, I have spent countless nights tossing and turning making my pros and cons lists. For those of you seeking a Montessori education for your child, hopefully this list will provide a great starting point for your journey.
Nearly one hundred years ago, Dr. Maria Montessori believed strongly in the emphasis of observation of children to determine what helped them develop, grow, and learn. The Montessori classroom, or prepared environment, generally follows these six aspects: Freedom; Structure and Order; Beauty; Nature and Reality; and Social Environment; Intellectual Environment. The Montessori School - Wilton
The Montessori School’s mission is “To respect children as self directed individuals and foster their growth toward independence and social responsibility.” It’s pre-school is situated in a quiet, peaceful corner of Wilton. Unlike many of the other schools on this list The Montessori school continues through grade eight.

Belden Hill’s program has been designed to provide a nurturing and enriching environment full of diverse and multi-aged children. Children enjoy a fun variety of field trips ranging from the Woodcock Nature Center to "musical play” at Sacred Heart University.

Great Beginnings Montessori - Fairfield
Great Beginnings Montessori “aims to support through the prepared Montessori environment the development of each child’s potential through activities that promote independence, physical coordination, emotional growth, social competence, cognitive preparation and spiritual nourishment.” This school provides a mixed-age environment for students aged 22 months -12 years old. This toddler [program is designed for young children 18 months to 3 years and operates Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., four and five day programs are available. Washington Montessori School - New Preston
Washington Montessori boasts 51 years of operation. They provide a personalized education in a collaborative community that encourages character development. Their teachers are highly trained and dedicated and the academics are meant to challenge the student. Programs start at 18 months and go up through 8th grade. Their lower school is for ages 3-6. The three-year mixed age grouping provides continuity from year to year; older children assist younger ones, fostering self-esteem and independence.
