Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Queens
Most commonly known as a drinking holiday, St. Patrick’s Day is usually a time to lock the kids in your house. But not this year! Queens has one of the largest Irish communities in NYC and there are some great parades and classes to look into even before the actual holiday. Here is the skinny:

St. Patrick's for all Parade
Families celebrate St. Patrick's Day with this parade in Queens. You can enjoy floats, stilt walkers, unicyclists, and puppeteers. The parade route goes East on Skillman, north on 56th Street, East on Woodside Avenue and ends at Woodside Avenue and 61st Street.

Queens County St. Patricks Day Parade
Boasting “The second largest St Patrick’s Day parade in the city”, featuring bag pipers, marching bands and more. The parade ends at Beach 90th Street

The New York Irish Center in Long Island City holds classes on traditional Irish arts. Here is a list of what you can find there:
Irish Dance Classes
The Center holds classes for children and adults from beginner to championship levels every Monday evening from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.
Tin Whistle Classes
Your children can learn Irish traditional music: Jigs, Reels, Hornpipes and Songs on the Tin Whistle every Monday evenings from 4:45pm to 7:00pm.
Violin (Fiddle) Lessons
Sign up for violin lessons at the Center on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
