Things to Do on Long Island for Kids and Families June 4-5: Strawberry Festivals, Nautical Fun, Grossology and More
Strawberries, festivals, turtles and the discovery of body odor are just some of the fun and exciting events we have lined up for you. Variety is definitely the word for the weekend! If the word body odor threw you for a loop, read on to see why it’s included in this post. You’ll be pleasantly surprised! Harbor County Day School invites you to indulge in everything strawberry related at their Strawberry Festival. Take part in a strawberry shortcake eating contest, stemming contest, bake off competition, food, rides, crafts and more. All proceeds from the event will go to Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.

The village of Freeport invites you come and enjoy The Freeport Nautical Mile Festival. On Saturday, this outdoor festival will feature games, carnival rides, vendors, live bands and a delicious food. On Sunday there will be carnival rides only. Shuttle busses will be available for transportation from parking to the festival, as the Nautical Mile will be closed to traffic on that day.

Ok, this exhibit is totally educational, engaging, hands-on and interactive and, gooey. The Long Island Children’s Museum invites you learn about the human body with their new exhibit, Grossology. Learn about how mucus is made, what causes runny noses, what happens to your body when you burp, why having gas smells so bad (yep, I said it, but it’s really cool to know why!), and much more oozy, sticky and yucky discoveries. This exhibit is open through September 4.
