What a great summer this is turning out to be in NYC. The weather has stayed at quite civil temperatures making it that much more fun to roam the city taking advantage of all the great stuff to do. One thing that did heat up this week was some word wars over Park Slope's stay at home dads. If "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" maybe they should check out a cool tribute to Michael Jackson. We've also got some tips on a free movie screening, the secret places of NYC, free admission to National Parks, and iPhone apps that could save your life.

There's been lots of attention to the increased number of stay at home dads on the NYC scene lately. The Park Slope YMCA has reacted by changing the name of their Mommy and Me classes to "Parent and Baby" and New York Mag's Daily Intel reported it as another example of Park Slope parents gone awry.

Eternal Moonwalk is perhaps the most fitting and beautiful tribute to Michael Jackson.

NYCgo.com is the official tourism site for NYC, but they've recently redone their site and have been doing neat reporting on things to do around New York. This week they posted a list of some of NYC's secret places, including a shipyward grave in Staten Island, a hidden cemetery in downtown Manhattan, and the Whispering Gallery in Grand Central. July 18-19 is the National Parks' Fee-Free Weekend (catchy name) and over 100 national parks will be free for the weekend. There are several in New York, mostly historic sites in the Hudson Valley. Find all the sites here. August 15-16 will be the next Fee-Free Weekend.
