5 Mother’s Day Freebies and Deals in New York City 2010
There are tons of fab free things to do to enjoy Mother's Day with your kids in NYC...and we don't mean spending the day cleaning out your closets (although that does sound exciting). Lots of places celebrate Mother's Day with deals, discounts and freebies just for mom. Here are a few no- and low-cost treats and activities moms and their lucky offspring can share together over Mother’s Day weekend.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
Cold Stone Creamery (participating stores)
2 Astor Place (Manhattan) confirmed for us they’re in on the deal. Check site for other NYC locations.
Bring mom in for a free “Love It” size signature ice cream creation. Sunday May 9th during business hours.
UPDATE: Tasti D-lite (free small cup or cone) and TCBY are also giving free frozen yogurts to moms.
Ikea
1 Beard Street, Brooklyn
Free Breakfast (coffee included!)
You could make this fun and laid-back store your Mother’s Day destination if your kids (like mine) dig testing out comfy beds, playing “house” in display living rooms, or spinning and rocking on the kids’ activity furniture in the children’s section. Plus there’s nearly ALWAYS something cool and cheap to take home from the Marketplace. Sunday May 9th during Ikea breakfast time from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
The Affordable Art Fair
7 West 34th Street, Manhattan
This is a really cool show with plenty of art to appeal to the younger set as well as moms (whether you wish to take home some affordable art or not). They always have some worthy kids’ crafts (we liked a pounding project involving golf tees and a giant block of styrofoam) and snacks are available. The show actually begins on May 6th, but on Mother’s Day children 12-and-under get their moms Free admission. Sunday May 9th, 12pm - 5pm
Ripley's Believe It or Not
On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9, 2010, moms who bring their children to Ripley’s will receive FREE admission. In addition, from 12:30pm – 7:00pm moms can finally get that family photo they’ve wanted, with a few extra Ripley’s family members in between – perhaps Albert Cadabra, the Human Blockhead; Betty Bloomerz, the Silent Sword Swallower or Baron Von Geiger, the Strongman.
Mother's Day Golf Special
Golf Club at Chelsea Piers
Moms receive a free $25 golf card when a son, daughter or partner purchases any ball card (minimum $25) on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9, 2010.
