Visiting Glide at Brooklyn Bridge Park: The Basics
Glide at Brooklyn Bridge Park is located on Emily Warren Roebling Plaza in Brooklyn's Dumbo neighborhood. While the rink itself isn't too large, the stunning views make for a unique ice skating experience. Skaters move along the smooth ice against the backdrop of the East River and the Lower Manhattan skyline. The rink isn't covered, except where a stretch of the Brooklyn Bridge traverses above, so you'll want to go on a sunny day to fully appreciate the views.
Skate sessions last for 50 minutes so everyone gets a chance to get on the ice. While you can buy tickets at the rink, it's highly recommended visitors purchase tickets in advance. There was a long line of people waiting to get tickets for the next session when we visited.
An upstairs cafe sells hot chocolate, coffee, s’mores, sandwiches, salads, coffee, even wine and more. For those who need a break, the cafe is a nice resting spot that offers a bird's-eye view of the whole scene below and the cityscape beyond.
After skating, enjoy all the family-friendly things to do in Dumbo, including Jane's Carousel, Empire Fulton Ferry Boardwalk, the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, and the famous Grimaldi's.
