Camp Cookie DŌ Serves up Cool Summer Treats with a Side of Nostalgia
The best cures for a summer heat wave: a spectacular splash pad, a dip in the local pool, and best of all, ice cream. Just in time for this sweltering summer, the folks behind the popular DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections have opened a summer-camp themed pop-up shop in Soho to serve up indulgent, nostalgic, super-cool treats.

Grab your treat and relax in the Adirondack chairs at Camp Cookie DŌ.
Dubbed Camp Cookie DŌ, the Soho pop-up shop is part of Chef's Club Counter, taking up the neighboring storefront. The eye-catching pink exterior, trio of brightly-colored Adirondack chairs, and windows decorated with whimsical, cartoony summer treats just beg you to step inside.

The tire swing beside a lake in the woods will transport you from the streets of NYC straight to summer camp.
Inside the shop, you're greeted by friendly staff and reminders of long summer days in the woods at summer camp, romping in the forest or rowing across the lake. You can even take a relaxing swing (or Instagram-worthy photo) in the tire swing that hangs from the ceiling.
On the menu, the nostalgia continues. All the ice cream concoctions include the DŌ blend of edible cookie dough. The "Dirty Worm" brings me back to my brother's birthdays, when he'd request a pudding-and-cookie-crumble concoction we dubbed dirt cake. The DŌ version marries chocolate pudding with chocolate ganache, cookie dough bits, chocolate soft-serve ice cream, and, of course, gummy worms.
Chocolate lovers will appreciate the "Chocolatey Blob," a fudgesicle-inspired cone, which starts with a layer of chocolate fudge, topped with chocolate chip cookie dough, and fudge soft-serve, plus chocolate sprinkles.
Indulge in a "Campfire Sundae" or a "Dirty Worm."
The real star of the show, though, might just be the ultra indulgent "Campfire Sundae," which tasted like my childhood summer in a cup. Graham cracker crumble creates a bed for the toasted marshmallow fluff that comes next, topped with marshmallow ice cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, and of course, fudge. It's the coolest s'more ever. Plan to share this masterpiece.
For a less rich and more portable option—as there's no seating area inside, just a long, high counter too high for my preschooler to reach—consider the pair of ice cream sandwiches: Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream is trapped between slabs of chocolate chip cookie dough in "The Rule Breaker," while "The Happy Camper" uses the same ice cream and a chocolate cocoa cookie shell. Cups of traditional DŌ can also be had, as can soft-serve ice cream.
All told, the cute dessert shop is worthy of a day trip during your summer staycation and perhaps a spot on our list of favorite indulgent NYC desserts. Camp Cookie DŌ is open daily through August 31 from noon-10pm Sundays through Thursdays and 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
