Looking for the best things to do in Miami and South Florida this weekend? Here are some great family-friendly events and activities to add to your schedule.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Miami and South Florida.

OK, so the holiday is not officially until Monday, March 17, but the celebrations of Irish culture and all things green begin in earnest this weekend. St. Patrick's Day parades step off in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday and in Hollywood on Sunday, while on Saturday the Emerald Society of South Florida presents its annual St. Patrick's Day Festival in Miami. And those are just the start of several weekends of family fun as South Florida celebrates its Irish heritage.

Elsewhere this weekend, celebrate Founders Day in Cooper City, scientific discovery in Fort Lauderdale, and foods and crafts in Boca Raton.
