Looking for the best things to do in Miami and South Florida this weekend? Here are some great family-friendly events and activities to add to your schedule.

Welcome to May, Mommy Poppins parents. As your children have reminded you, we are but a few weeks from the close of schools in the Miami and South Florida area.

But before all that summer vacation fun begins, we can all enjoy some family-friendly events this weekend, including the Fort Lauderdale Air Show, Tri Rail’s Ride & Play, and Maker Faire Miami.

A week ahead of Mother’s Day, why not treat mom to day of relaxation at Moms Day Off in Coconut Grove? Key West hosts its annual Songwriters Festival, and comic book fans across the country can delight in Free Comic Book Day 2025.

Star Wars fans can celebrate their special day—May 4th—with events at the Museum of Discovery and Science and at the ballpark with the Miami Marlins

As always, if you have an event you think we should check out, feel free to e-mail us. Don't forget to bookmark this page and share with a friend.

He manages the university’s messaging while also contributing to Mommy Poppins, a site he discovered after his third daughter was born in 2011. Fun fact: James nearly made it on Jeopardy but missed a Final Jeopardy question on art history—only to watch a colleague nail it and become a two-time champion.
