Weekend Fun for NJ Kids: Blueberry Festival, Fairy Day, Baseball, June 27-28
Here’s hoping for a wonderful June weekend filled with sun and clear skies! There are lots of ways to enjoy the outdoors in New Jersey this Saturday and Sunday: Sample delicious cannoli at the annual Italian-American Festival in North Wildwood, savor sweet fruit at the Whitesbog Blueberry Festival or build a whimsical garden house during Fairy Day at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum. For some fun hands-on learning, experience a day of Spectacular Science at the Garden State Discovery Museum or roll up your sleeves and get digging at the Community Fossil Hunt at Poricy Park.

Italian-American Festival (North Wildwood, NJ)
Cannoli anyone? The annual North Wildwood Italian-American Festival celebrates NJ’s Italian-American heritage and features vendors, live entertainment, dancing, a meatball relay and an abundance of delicious food.
Spectacular Science (Cherry Hill, NJ)
Join the Garden State Discovery Museum for a day of science themed crafts and activities! Then stick around and check out some of the museum’s permanent exhibits like the Dinosaurium and Bubble Trouble.

Whitesbog Blueberry Festival (Brown Mills, NJ)
Celebrate all things blueberry at this old-fashioned festival. Enjoy blueberry picking, live country music, lots of children’s activities, great food, historical presentations and tours, pinelands artists and crafters and their famous blueberry pie-eating contest
Fetch & Pounce 5K Run & Walk (North Brunswick, NJ)
Kids (ages 6 & up) and their parents are invited to the inaugural Fetch & Pounce 5K benefiting the Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society. This will be a fun run with t-shirts and goodie bags to pre-registered runners, vendors, refreshments, adoptable animals and a silent auction table. Best of all, funds raised will help save homeless animals.
Garden Exploration Saturdays (Montclair, NJ)
Families can check out Van Vleck Gardens on select Saturday mornings to learn all about nature. Activities will be offered and supplies will be provided for self-guided exploration. This weekend’s theme is all about life cycles.

Firefly Festival (Princeton, NJ)
Enjoy an evening of nature, music, wagon rides, outdoor fun and of course, firefly hunting. Children can enjoy the magic of fireflies by making their own wings, bug boxes and antennae. Admission to the festival is FREE, but there are some charges for certain activities.
Fairy Day (Morris Township, NJ)
Bring the family to Frelinghuysen Arboretum for their 8th Annual Fairy Day and build special houses for the visiting fairies. Then take a stroll around the beautiful grounds and soak up the summer sunshine.
Somerset Patriots Baseball Game (Bridgewater, NJ)
Cheer on the Somerset Patriots as they take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at a family-friendly game at TD Bank Ballpark. Nickelodeon TV star Spongebob Squarepants will be at the ballpark for pictures and autographs and kids are invited to run the bases in the Beez Foundation Diamond Derby.
Community Fossil Hunt (Middletown, NJ)
Calling all little explorers! Hunt for fossils along with an experienced guide during this exciting activity at Poricy Park. Trowels and sifters will be provided. Don’t forget to bring a small bag or bucket to collect your treasures.
