A jewel of an island located 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Nantucket is only 14 miles long and 3.5 wide, with an extremely walkable (or bikeable!) downtown. This tiny size makes it hard to find great places to stay, especially with kids!

We’ve put together a list of the best Nantucket hotels, resorts, and even a couple of vacation home rentals that we think are just right for families. Each offers an array of amenities onsite, including luxurious swimming pools (one just for children), babysitting services and kids clubs, private beaches, and even a ride on a vintage fire truck.

The former whaling capital of the world now boasts 40% reserved conservation land, so get ready for vistas of sand dunes, blue or pink hydrangeas for miles and charming former whaling captain’s houses turned into bed and breakfasts. With its charming red and white striped lighthouse, cobblestone streets, and fresh seafood fare, Nantucket becomes incredibly popular in summer.  That means these spots book up fast!

Because Nantucket is an island, getting around with small children takes a certain amount of patience and prior research. For instance, while the high-speed ferry costs more, it cuts the trip from Cape Cod to Nantucket from 2 hours to 1, crucial when traveling with small children.
