Here Comes the Herd: The Great Elephant Migration is coming to Hermann Park
This April, Hermann Park will host The Great Elephant Migration, a breathtaking exhibit featuring 100 life-sized Indian elephant sculptures, each carefully handcrafted to honor India’s wildlife. As part of a global movement promoting human-wildlife harmony, this impressive installation has already wowed audiences in Newport, New York, and Miami Beach. Now, it’s Houston’s turn to experience the magic.
The installation not only offers a stunning visual experience but also supports global conservation efforts, raising millions for wildlife protection. The exhibit is free and will be open to the public from April 1–30, 2025, giving visitors the chance to enjoy art, culture, and conservation in one remarkable location.
Park visitors can explore the herd and capture photos of the sculptures. The largest elephant, Matt, along with most of the herd, will be located in The Commons (which is also home to one of our favorite playgrounds in Houston), while smaller groups will be displayed at the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Texas Medical Center. The Hermann Park Conservancy, in collaboration with local organizations, will soon reveal additional interactive activities.
