Houston Restaurant Weeks 2017 is here. Are your taste buds ready? From Aug. 1-Sept. 30, dozens of Houston's best eateries offer specialty menus at a set price with proceeds benefiting the Houston Food Bank. While all of the participating spots make for great date nights, there are plenty of kid-friendly spots as well! Here are 10 options we love. All still offer regular menus throughout the month as well as staple kids' menus.
Restaurant week menu prices are the same no matter where you go, with brunch at $22, lunch for $20, and dinner for $35-$45, depending on the establishment. So, what are you waiting for? Get to eating!
This post is currently being updated for 2018.
Agave Rio - Katy
This West Houston spot has a huge (and we mean huge ) patio and outdoor space with plenty of shade provided by trees and pergolas as well as a sand box. It has a dinner menu for restaurant week that features items like Smoked Lamb Lollipops and Wood-Fired New Zealand Ocean Trout.
Crisp - The Heights
Crisp is one of our favorite spots around The Heights because of its homestyle (and delish) offerings. This year the restaurant is offering a special dinner menu that includes a Blue Crab Bisque and Melting Beef Short Ribs. There's a decently sized shaded patio as well with a lovely fountain in the middle.

Downtown Aquarium - Downtown
We probably don't have to explain why this is a great pick for kids, but for any Houston newbies, the aquarium is home to that massive Ferris wheel looming over I-45 as well as an indoor aquarium and animal exhibits. Its restaurant week dinner menu is full of seafood favorites, from crab dip to good ole' surf and turf.
El Tiempo - Various locations
There are seven locations around Houston with each serving up cheesy, meaty, guacamole-covered Tex-Mex. The spot at Vintage Park in northwest Houston has an outdoor patio next to a fountain area where kids can run and play. Every location offers a special dinner menu for restaurant week featuring fajitas.
Liberty Kitchen and Oyster Bar - The Heights (and various locations)
Liberty Kitchen has four properties inside the loop, but the one we frequent is the oyster bar on Studemont. It's serving brunch, lunch, and dinner during restaurant week with menu items like mussels and clams mundaka (a creamy shellfish soup), blacked pork chops, and gumbo.
Hearsay on the Green - Downtown
Grab brunch, lunch, or dinner at this modern spot near Discovery Green. The southern-style menu has items like the Grilled Peach Salad, Blackened Red Snapper, and shrimp and grits for brunch. After your meal, let the kids run around the playground at the park - there are slides, a splash pad, and lots of green space.

Raffa's Waterfront Grill - Kingwood
Raffa's patio offers a beautiful view of Lake Houston. The seafood joint offers a special dinner menu for restaurant week that includes tartare, blue crab cake, and Chilean Sea Bass.
Punk's Simple Southern Food - West University
Punk's chic southern atmosphere includes a large patio (but note that it's mostly filled with tables, so there isn't much room for kids to run around - it's just nice to sit outside!). The restaurant week dinner menu features gumbo, shrimp and grits, and chicken fried steak.
The Union Kitchen - Bellaire, Memorial, The Heights, & Kingwood
The owners of The Union Kitchen pride themselves in serving local ingredients and specialize in southern cooking. All locations are serving lunch and dinner menus for restaurant week with offerings like Chef David's Seafood Paella for dinner and Cajun shrimp and grits for lunch.
Rainbow Lodge - Greater Heights
Older kids will get a kick out of the rustic cabin setting inside Rainbow Lodge, which serves wild game, like southern fried rabbit loin and buffalo steak.
