WeeWork Kids Craft: Crayon Resist Watercolor Painting
Secret messages, magical appearing drawings, wax resist painting is a favorite activity for kids. Using crayons and watercolors anyone can do this at home and kids can watch their drawings change in awesome and surprising ways as they paint.
1. Using a white crayon, draw a picture, your name or a secret message on a piece of paper. Is it hard to draw when you can't see your lines?
2. Take your watercolors and paint over your crayon drawing.
3. Watch the paint resist and move away from anywhere there is crayon drawing, creating a cool effect. Why does it do that?
There are thousands of things to do with this cool method of painting. Try it with colored crayons and you get a kind of neon effect. Or write a secret message for your child and let them reveal it when they paint over it. Have fun!
