Check this list, and you’ll find the perfect thing to do with your kids each and every day of July, whether it's a reason to have a disco dance party or the perfect excuse to watch an Indiana Jones movie. Holidays and Activities for Each Day in July 2025
Make 'em laugh! International Joke Day is a great way to kick off July! Photo by Amina Filkins via Pexels
July 1 – International Joke Day
Spend the day telling each other side splitters. We've rounded up 75 jokes for kids—plus riddles, tongue twisters, knock knock jokes, and more silliness in our Guide to the Best Jokes and Humor for Kids.
July 2 – National Disco Day
So many ways to disco! Turn a room into a disco party haven with a disco ball and some disco music. Kids all love Disco Duck to get the party started, but then you can move to Donna Summers, Gloria Gaynor, and Chic.
July 3 – International Drop a Rock Day
Painting messages on rocks and hiding them for other kids to find is such a great activity, because it provides two whole afternoons of entertainment: one to paint rocks and another to take a long walk and hide them! We even wrote an article about rock dropping, to give you ideas on how to decorate your rocks and where to hide them!
July 4 – Independence Day
Happy Fourth of July! May you spend this day with those you love, celebrating the ideals of our country: freedom, human rights, rule of law, liberty, and justice for all! We rounded up great ways to celebrate at home with the Best Fourth of July Activities for Kids. For local fireworks and parades, be sure to check your area's calendar of events.
July 5 – National Graham Cracker Day
Graham crackers were invented in the early 1800's as a health food, so using them, even to make s'mores, is good for you, right? My two favorite summer recipes using Graham crackers are, of course, s'mores (here's our recipe for making s'mores in a solar oven, so you don't always need a fire!) and a Graham cracker crust for no-bake pies like an ice cream pie!
July 6 – Shark Week!
Today kicks off Shark Week! It's a great day to visit a local aquarium, sing Baby Shark, and check out the schedule of shark programming for Shark Week.
July 7 – National Dora Day
Can you believe Dora the Explorer burst onto the scene a quarter of a century ago? See how it all started; go back and watch early episodes of Dora the Explorer, and then talk with your kids about planning your own explorations and adventures.

July 8 – National Blueberry Day
In some parts of the country, this is peak blueberry picking time, but if that's not the case where you live, you can use store-bought or even frozen blueberries to whip up blueberry pancakes, blueberry muffins, or blueberry popsicles.
July 9 – National Sugar Cookie Day
Heard of Christmas in July? Sure you could make some summery cookies, but why not treat the kids to a silly day of singing Christmas carols and making Christmas cookies? Our sugar cookie recipe can't be beat, no matter how you decorate them!
July 10 – Teddy Bear Picnic Day
Teddy Bear Picnic Day is the perfect reason to get a blanket and favorite bear and sit outside. Your picnic can be as elaborate as you like, with a tea set and homemade goodies at the park, or can simply be sitting on your front steps with a blanket, bear buddy, and box of Teddy Grahams! It's all about getting outside together.
July 11 – Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven
Hello! How handy that 7/11 is in the middle of summer, so celebrating with a free Slurpee comes in the middle of summer's heat. Check with your local store, but on July 11, you can usually get a free small Slurpee at 7-Eleven, Speedway, or Stripes stores.
July 12 – Etch-a-Sketch Day
Everyone's talking about having a 90's summer and being a Type-B parent, and giving kids a classic toy to play with is item #1 on that agenda! Ironically, the Etch-a-Sketch has a screen, but it's about as low-tech a screen as you can get! Discover more low-tech/no-tech toys on our list of 100 Best Classic Toys.
July 13 – Harrison Ford's Birthday
This is the perfect reason to have a family movie night and watch your favorite Indiana Jones movie together! Real talk, Raiders of the Lost Ark is a perfect movie. Don't forget the movie snacks.
July 14 – Bastille Day
It's like 4th of July for France, so start your day with French toast, end it with French fries, and maybe watch An American in Paris or Ratatouille.
July 15 – Gummy Worm Day
So that your kids don't just eat a whole bag of gummy worms and make themselves sick, try making a Dirt Dessert tonight, with gummy worms poking through the dessert. Here's our tried and true, easy and no bake recipe!

July 16 – National Hot Dog Day
I have to admit, my favorite national days are the ones that provide the answer to "What's for dinner?"!
July 17 – World Emoji Day
What's your favorite emoji to use? Talk with your kids about what different emojis mean to their generation (I guarantee they don't all mean what you think they mean!).
July 18 – Pflasterspektakel Linz
Pflasterspektakel Linz is a German holiday which translates to ‘pavement spectacle,' and draws together dancers, mimes, musicians, high-wire walkers, clowns, fire twirlers, acrobats, and more unique performers together. Put on your own neighborhood pavement spectacle with everyone performing their own special talent!
July 19 – Words With Friends Day
Back in the day before Wordle and Connections, so many of us played Words with Friends. Words with Friends Day is a great reminder of how fun word games can be for kids (and a wonderful want to stop the summer brain drain!). We rounded up great word games for kids both online and off. Check out 7 Games Like Wordle for Kids and Printable Word Puzzles for Kids.
July 20 – Fortune Cookie Day
Sure, you could go out to a local Chinese restaurant and get fortune cookies for dessert today. But if you really want to celebrate Fortune Cookie Day in a unique and fun way with kids, try making your own fortune cookies! The cookies are easy to make, fun to fold, and delicious, but the real fun lies in making up fun fortunes for your family! Check out this Fortune Cookie recipe with easy to follow instructions.
July 21 – Global Hug Your Kids Day
This one is for parents. Honestly, it's just an excuse to give extra hugs and tell your kids you are allowed. Extra inportant day of note for parents of teens.

July 22 – Hammock Day
If you don't have a hammock, you can get an inexpensive portable hammock, or fashion one out an old sheet. Then hit your back yard or a local park and let everyone take turns relaxing. It's a summer pleasure that can't be beat. If you don't have a handy outdoor space, you can make these fun table hammocks for kids!

July 29 – International Tiger Day
International Tiger Day was founded to raise awareness about conservation efforts for tigers around the world. 100 years ago there were more than 100,000 tigers in Asia; today there are fewer than 6,000 tigers on earth.
Here's a fun tiger fact: Tigers are the only cat species that are entirely striped. When shaved, their skin has the identical stripe as their fur. For more animal fun facts, check out our Animal Fun Facts for Kids page. To learn more about tigers and tiger conservation, visit the WWF website.

July 31 – Harry Potter's Birthday
Waiting for your Hogwarts acceptance letter, like Harry received on his 11th birthday? If your little muggle is a Harry Potter fan, today is a perfect excuse to watch one of the movies, read one of the books, or start planning a Harry Potter-themed vacation!
