WeeWork Kids Craft: Make an Upcycled Button Ring

This three-step project allows kids to extend their imaginative play with simple materials. Make your own ring and a make believe story about a magical, far away place! All you need is a decorative button (with shank, see photo), pipe cleaner (or a twist tie works too) and scissors.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
1. Assemble the materials.
2. Measure the child's finger by wrapping the pipe cleaner (or twist tie) around their finger leaving enough extra to twist wire together for a snug fit.
3. Lace the button onto the pipe cleaner. Twist ends together and check the fit. If it doesn't come on and off easily simply adjust.
Does your ring have special powers? Or does it belong to a prince or princess? Let the imaginative play begin!
This WeeWork activity was contributed by Mary Beth Trautwein at ReDiscover Center in Los Angeles, a nonprofit creative reuse center which promotes resource conservation, creativity, and community engagement through material reuse. Find out more about reDiscover Center.
