Kid Friendly Farmers Markets in Connecticut - Hartford County
Farmers markets are opening up all around the area allowing us to enjoy the bounty of summer products. Visiting a farmers market is a great way to teach your child about good nutrition and developing healthy eating habits. A special place filled with colorful fruits and vegetables, beautiful flowers and much more, you can let your child freely explore the delicious world of garden-fresh produce. Many of the farmers markets here in Hartford County provide fun family friendly activities to enjoy as well.

Simsbury Farmers’ Market in Simsmore Square is every Thursday from 3-6pm now until October. As well as the many great vendors whch include eggs, artisan bread, cheeses, meats, fruits, organic produce and much more, they offer pony rides periodically throughout the season. Other big hits for the kids are costumed special guests like Nellie the Cow or Corn on the Cob, a girl scouts educational booth to learn all about honey bees, photo prop booths, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment and kids crafts!

On Sundays from 10-1pm in the hip downtown Collinsville is a farmers market that features over a dozen vendors from local farms, musical guests, costumed characters, live farm animals, and various special events.

Wethersfield has a great family friendly farmers market every Thursday from 3-6pm that goes way beyond just vendors featuring their products. They have cooking demonstrations, food samples, exercise workshops, horse & carriage rides occasionally offered, local musicians, face painting, Henna tattoo & temporary body art, and a variety of special events occur as well.

A new farmers market will be starting this year in Plainville from June 29-August 31 every Friday from 3-6pm. Located in the Plainville High School parking lot on rte 10. In addition to the farm vendors there will be live entertainment from local musicians, and booths promoting local businesses.

The Middletown North End Farmers’ Market located in front of the "It’s Only Natural Market" is a small market that features live entertainment, and special guests like hula hoopers and more. Located walking distance from Kidcity Children’s Museum, the vegan/vegetarian restaurant ION and many other shops and restaurants you can spend the day exploring.

Hartford has various farmers markets around the city but their North End Farmer’s Market is one that offers fun children’s activities, cooking demonstrations, tastings, musical performances, and other exciting events. The market takes place in front of the North End Senior Center and is every Wednesday from 10-1pm June 27- October 31.
