One River School of Art + Design is coming to Westchester, with locations soon opening in Larchmont and Hartsdale. While the latter is tentatively planned for March, the Larchmont facility will begin classes January 29, followed by a Grand Opening weekend, when free workshops will allow sampling of the school’s offerings.

Classes will expose kids to a range of mediums.
One River was founded in New Jersey by Matt Ross, the former School of Rock CEO, whose vision is to transform the way art is taught and to ramp up cultural enrichment in suburbia. The school reports to offer a proprietary method of art instruction, immersing students in month-long projects while drawing on the work of contemporary artists as inspiration. Classes are taught by working artists and art educators.
Multiple art forms will be offered for study by all ages, including adults. The Larchmont facility—the largest One River School thus far—will feature three art studios, a digital lab and photography suite and gallery space for exhibitions. Approximately 25 classes per week are planned, in subjects including studio art, digital art, design, photography and filmmaking. Enrollment is managed by monthly membership, allowing flexible scheduling—especially perfect for those pockets of time between sports seasons, for instance.
More than 70 weekly summer camps will expose kids to a variety of genres, including street art, drawing, portfolio development, cartooning, animation, filmmaking and more. Of these, 10 camps will be for grades K-2, 12 will serve grades 3-5 and 48 will be for teens.
Classes are taught by artists and educators.
With options running as late as August 31, kids can be kept busy even in late summer.
