Live animal exhibits are always a hit with kids, and this one is no exception. It features 15 different frog species of varying sizes and colors. What I loved most about this exhibit was how open it was. It was basically one big room full of frog tanks. So you don't have to battle lines or worry about missing anything because you can just roam around and look as you please. Each tank gives you a glimpse into that species' natural habitat- waterfalls, rock ledges, and live plants make each tank unique.

There were plenty of educational opportunities throughout the exhibit. Kids can use interactive displays to find hidden frogs, create their own chorus of croaking frogs, and even dissect a frog. Information about each species can be found right next to its tank as well, and there are some interesting species you will definitely want to learn more about. Plenty of knowledgeable staff members were also on hand to answer all your froggy questions.

On weekends during the month of February, or "Frogruary," guests can also enjoy special crafts, amphibian specimen displays, and interactive activities. We attended the press event a few days before the exhibit opened and enjoyed a coloring table and visited a hands-on table with a huge skeleton of the goliath frog, the biggest frog in the world, as well as microscopic views of the stages of a frog's life. A Reptiland staff member was walking around with a monkey frog showing us how he climbed on a stick with opposable thumbs.

My 2-year-old loved this exhibit. He was excited from the moment I told him about it and he couldn't have been more overjoyed at the sight of all the frogs. He very much enjoyed learning about and imitating all the different sounds that frogs make- who knew they say more than "Ribbit!" We learned that all toads are actually frogs and that they abosorb all their water through their super thin belly skin. My kid loved it so much, he's currently requesting to go back and see all the frogs again.

Frogs: A Chorus of Colors runs through May 14, 2017. Exhibit tickets must be purchased in addition to general admission tickets. Save money by purchasing online before your visit. Visit The Academy's website for more information on admission pricing.
