Long Island Halloween Experiences for Preschoolers to Teens

1. Clark Botanic Garden – Albertson

Younger children (and those easily spooked) can enjoy the Not-So-Spooky Walk during the daylight at Clark Botanic Garden on October 29, 2023. Meanwhile, older thrill-seekers can go on a Spooky Walk for two nights in October and experience zombies, vampires, ghouls, and many of their gruesome friends. 

2. Garden City Bird Sanctuary – Garden City

In Haunted Hikes through the woods of the Garden City Bird Sanctuary, characters jump out at you for a spooky good time. Recommended for young adults ages 10+. For a Halloween activity with little fright, the sanctuary also hosts not-so-scary walks, which are suitable for families and little ones. 

3. Bayville Scream Park – Bayville

Bayville Scream Park, which is on the grounds of Bayville Adventure Park, offers Halloween-themed attractions that suit younger and older kids. Younger kids will enjoy not-so-scary days, which offer a funhouse, mirror maze, Halloween express train ride, pumpkin bounce, mini-golf, rock climbing, bumper boat safari, a spooky treetop adventure, and more. The Scream Park's nighttime experience, meanwhile, boasts six haunted houses and is recommended for ages 13+.

4. Center for Science Teaching & Learning – Rockville Centre

Spooky Fest celebrates the Halloween season with scary and non-scary attractions for all ages. There are wooded paths, exhibits, and spooky characters that greet visitors, as well as a zombie dinosaur attraction. There is a trail that has moderately scary thrills that is recommended for children ages 7+.

5. Gateway's Haunted Playhouse – Bellport

The Not-So-Scary Halloween Adventure at Gateway's Haunted Playhouse is a Halloween adventure for little kids, featuring mini witches and warlocks, pumpkins and cats, monsters and fairies, superheroes and bats. In the evenings, dozens of professionally trained actors prepare and rehearse each character that inhabits a haunted house. The nighttime shows are recommended for ages 13+.

6. Schmitts Farm Haunt – Melville

Schmitts Farm Haunt is a haunted farm attraction that features seven sections of terrifying movie-quality sets and monsters, plus a haunted corn trail. The daytime attraction features a lights-on walk-through of the haunted sets and haunted corn trail with no actors. The daytime version is perfect for anyone who isn’t looking for big scares but still wants to experience the haunt.

7. Enchanted Forest Trail at Quogue Wildlife Refuge – Quogue

Follow your guide at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge to meet whimsical, fun, and educational characters on the forest trails. 

8. Haunted Tree House at the Long Island Aquarium – Riverhead

Be afraid! Well, not too afraid. Celebrate the season family-style at a brand-new haunted tree house at the Long Island Aquarium, which features five levels of Halloween fun. 

9. Haunted Hanger — Farmingdale

The American Airpower Museum transforms into a Haunted Hanger for a trick or treat experience with goblins, witches and a not-so-spooky area with dry ice fog, spider webs, flying bats and new frights at every turn. 

10. Tales, Trails, and Treats at the Sweetbriar Nature Center – Smithtown

At Sweetbriar Nature Center, families can enjoy close encounters with animals, a ghostly garden, games, and a special trick-or-treat trail complete with animals, characters, and a storybook.

Long Island Haunted Houses for Teens

11. Darkness Rising – Copiague

Darkness Rising returns with ​​​​​​a new, eerie haunted house built to look like the gaslit streets of Victorian London. Get ready to experience a haunting adventure like no other in “The Coven’s Curse.” Recommended for ages 13+.

12. Chambers of Hell – Hauppauge

This attraction features three haunted houses with Hollywood-quality sets, makeup, lighting, and actors. Recommended for young adults ages 15+.

13. Dark Knight Halloween World – Farmingville

From escaping rooms of "infinite darkness" to finding your way out of a backroom maze, this Halloween festival has it all. Recommended for ages 13+.

13. Spooky Walk at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck – Center Moriches

This 45-minute immersive, haunted outdoor Spooky Walk takes place on two weekends in October at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck. There will be a food and drink tent on site. Recommended for ages 8+.
