Holiday Shows for Kids in New Jersey: “The Toymaker’s Apprentice”.
Yes, we’ve been wearing t-shirts, but it’s officially the holidays, nonetheless. Make special memories with your kids by taking them to a holiday show in NJ! Nutcrackers and Christmas Carols abound, but there are other options as well, and we will do our best to find the fun ones out there, starting with “The Toymaker’s Apprentice” at Hudson Theater Ensemble’s Children’s Series “Silly on Sixth”.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
We love the award-winning professional community theater, Hudson Theater Ensemble because of its “neighborhood” feel; most of the performers live in the area and many of them are teachers at the various schools in Hudson county. Also, as Florence Pape, Director of Development, states so enthusiastically “We get the best of both worlds—the talent of New York City and the incredible talent of Hoboken!” In fact, “The Toymaker’s Apprentice” boasts a NY director (Jeremy Williams) and the dance teacher at All Saints Episcopal Day School, Jennifer Eisenberg, wows the audience by going en pointe as The Dancing Doll.
“The Toymaker’s Apprentice” is a musical, following the tale of a Toymaker who is hiring a new helper. Many apply, but two finalists emerge: Patty, the selfish daughter of the President of Corporate Corp., Incorporated and sweet-natured, hard-working Katie, the daughter of a carpenter. Who will be the next Apprentice? The one who makes the best toy or the one with the best singing voice?
At 45 minutes in length, “The Toymaker’s Apprentice” would be a perfect first experience with live theater for your kids. But don’t miss it! 6 Performances only! Saturday November 19, at 11am, 1pm, and 2:30pm and Sunday November 20, at 11am, 1pm, & 2:30pm at the Hudson School Performance Space in Hoboken. $6/Kids; $10/Adults.
