Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Mamaroneck: Top Picks for Family Dining & Dessert

12/28/13 - By Sonia Gonzalez

We continue our month-long coverage on Mamaroneck with a look at restaurants in the neighborhood. Mamaroneck offers lots of family-friendly dining and a solid variety of cuisine to choose from. You'll also find a few choice spots for dessert. Though not all the restaurants we selected have a dedicated children's menu, you will find kid-friendly staples at all of them.

Not surprising, most eateries in this post are located right along Mamaroneck Avenue, the town's "Main Street," though there are a few others throughout the village. Read on for our top picks for dining with families in Mamaroneck.

Frankie & Fanucci's
301 Mamaroneck Avenue
My family and I are regulars at Frankie & Fanucci's. My kids love the individual plain pizzas and chicken parm and the specialty pizzas are perfect for parents to share. The service is fantastic and the atmosphere is casual and family friendly. They also offer take-out and delivery. Did I mention kids eat free Monday through Thursday? Sold.

Molly Spillane's Pub
211 Mamaroneck Avenue
Molly's has a kids menu that doubles as an activity sheet (they supply the crayons). When the weather is nice, enjoy outdoor seating in back. Molly's has a pretty extensive menu, including salmon and steak entrees and across-the-pond favorites like Shepard's Pie.

Chef Antonio's Restaurant
551 Halstead Avenue
Yes, the decor is dated and could use a serious update but if you're looking for solid Italian cuisine, Chef Antonio's is it. They offer large portions of favorites like chicken parmigiana and gnocci bolognese and they have a children's menu with staples like chicken fingers and spaghetti and meatballs. Chef Antonio's is a low-key place with a friendly staff, off the main strip of Mamaroneck Avenue.

Turkish Meze
409 Mount Pleasant Avenue
Whether you're a fan of Turkish cuisine or are looking to try something different, Turkish Meze is a worth a visit. Their menu is very descriptive in case you are not familiar with the dishes and clearly notes dishes that are spicy. Although there's no children's menu, you'll find kid-pleasers such as chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks and french fries for less adventurous eaters.

Rani Mahal
327 Mamaroneck Avenue
Rani Mahal serves authentic Indian dishes and offers lots of vegetarian options. Although there is no children's menu, there are several options to appeal to pickier palettes including naan and some of the milder chicken dishes with rice. Rani Mahal also offer Sunday brunch and all-you-can-eat buffets on weekdays.

And for dessert...

Chocolation's
607 East Boston Post Road
This chocolate factory is fantastic. Their make-your-own bar is always a hit and their dipped creations are incredible. Strawberries, apples, pretzels, chips...you name it, they have it--dipped in chocolate! They also host birthday parties for young chocolatiers. Sweet!

Boiano Bakery
258 Mamaroneck Avenue
Boiano's is a classic Italian bakery with delicious pastries, cakes, cookies and more. The cheesecake is a must try and we haven't had a cookie from here that we didn't like.

Paleteria Fernandez
350 Mamaroneck Avenue
We mentioned Paleteria Fernandez in our post on local ice cream shops in Westchester and although they do serve ice cream, what draws most customers in are the paletas, homemade Mexican frozen pops in a variety of flavors including cantaloupe, mango and hibiscus flower.
