Families can get a head start on Lunar New Year celebrations with traditional Chinese dance and drum performances at the Lunar New Year Celebration in Middletown's Run 4 Downtown Park, or meet live snakes at the Lunar New Year: Year of the Wood Snake event at Teatown Reservation. 

Other special events this weekend include Starlab: Portable Planetarium at the Hudson Highlands Nature Center and Rock n' Roll Playhouse Presents Music of Phish and more for Kids at Garcia's.
