21 Trending and Out-of-the-Box Activities for Kids in Los Angeles

LA is a city where trends begin. We are a land of influencers, movie stars, fashion icons, and top musicians. If it's trendy, there's a good chance it started here. So, it makes sense that LA is also a trendsetter when it comes to new activities to do with your family in Los Angeles. Before "everyone is doing it," we are doing it here, and we have a list of our favorite, family-friendly, out-of-the-box activities to share with you!
Whether you want to try tufting, sneaker customization, axe throwing, or slime-making, LA has brand-new and super cool places to check out. Keep in mind that most of these activities are for older kids, such as elementary school and above. Many of these activities are perfect for bonding with teens and tweens and creating a viral moment that your kids will be proud to showcase to their friends and maybe even share on TikTok.
For more activities that get older kids out of the house and away from their screens, try these teen birthday party ideas in Los Angeles and check out these things to do in LA with tweens and teens that they'll actually enjoy.

Our favorite spot for a jewelry quest in LA is Kidd's Jewelry Heist in San Marino.
3. Slime Making
It's no secret that kids are obsessed with slime and Sloomoo Institute is one of the ultimate places to get your slime fix. Get slimed under a waterfall of the gooey stuff, and create customized slime to take home at the DIY slime bar. Slime making is one of our favorite trendy spots in Los Angeles. Transform a drab pair of shoes into a work of art that will have people stopping on the streets at SRGN Academy. This spot in the Del Amo Fashion Center books customization sessions on Saturdays and Sundays, and there is no age requirement to participate. Make sure to bring your own pair of shoes. If you want a more detailed course on shoe design, this venue also offers in-depth, four-day shoe workshops where aspiring "shoe surgeons" can deconstruct and reconstruct popular shoes.
We love SRGN Academy in Torrance for custom Shoe Designing in Los Angeles.
6. Fluid Bear Art
Shot of Art was one of our favorite adventures in LA last year, and for good reason. My kids were able to create amazing fluid art canvases (we have them on display in our playroom) and then splatter paint all over a room (a kid's dream!). In addition to fluid art canvases, Shot of Art offers fluid bear art, where kids can pour mesmerizing paint over a large bear to take home. Older guests can opt for balloon art (shooting balloons full of paint on a white canvas) and spin art to create a statement piece.
