Get Moving: Free Outdoor Workouts for Philly Families this Summer

Whether you're trying to get back into shape or stay in shape, working out is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Not only does it keep parents happy and healthy, but it teaches kids how to keep moving and be healthy. If you're looking for a little extra motivation, check out these FREE workouts around the city this summer- bring your little kids with you in the stroller or have older kids join in!

Race Street Pier
In the summer, you can literally take a free yoga class every day of the week (sometimes twice a day) at Race Street Pier. Throughout the year, they offer occasional twighlight yoga sessions as well. BYO mat.
Tip: If group exercise isn't your thing, the steps at Race Street Pier are perfect for interval workouts. Pack the littles up in a stroller and create your own workout.

The Oval
Every Wednesday over the summer months, The Oval offers a variety of free classes. From yoga to dance, and even kickboxing, you can try something new this summer on Wednesday nights at The Oval. These classes are a great way to bond with the older kiddos- especially the dance classes where singing along is encouraged! Don't forget a mat for yoga classes.

Yoga on the Banks
Bring a friend, bring your kid, bring your dog (and don't forget mats) for Yoga on the Banks at 25th and Locust! This pay-what-you-can yoga is donation based, so consider bringing a few bucks along to help keep it going. Classes take place every Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday in the spring and summer. 

Core Power Yoga
Core Power Yoga offers free yoga events on the rooftop of their Walnut Street Studio. BYO mats and enjoy this one with older kids. Check the schedule for dates.

Brewerytown Bicycles' Dirt Church
A great way to bond with older kids, this beginner mountain bike ride in Belmont is free every second Sunday. You can even rent a bike for free on a first-come first-serve basis. Be sure to reserve your spot before you go and don't forget a helmet and water.

Be Well Philly Summer Yoga Flow at Dilworth Park
Head to Dilworth Park every Tuesday evening this summer for free yoga presented by Three Queens Yoga. BYO mat and enjoy this one with teens and tweens.
Tip: Dilworth Park also offers a free spring training series in April and May.

Philadelphia Museum of Art Yoga
Every Wednesday night as part of pay-what-you-wish admission, enjoy free yoga at the Anne d'Harnoncourt Sculpture Garden. Bring your own mat and enjoy this one with older kids.
