Eerily Fun Ghost Tours Near Atlanta

1. Atlanta Ghost Tours – Midtown

Evenings yearround: 7pm and 8pm
$26 adults, $16 children 6-12, free under age 6

Take a haunted, moonlit journey through Midtown Atlanta. Atlanta Ghost Tours allows families with kids to go on a one-hour ghost tour to see some of Atlanta’s most haunted landmarks, including the Fox Theatre and the Biltmore Hotel. For added fun, rent an EMF detector during the tour and purchase a ghost plush as a souvenir.

2. Capturing the Spirit of Oakland – Old Fourth Ward

October 17-27, 2024: Tours depart every 15 minutes from 5-11pm
$45 adults, $30 children ages 4-12

Tour Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta’s oldest cemetery, where you’ll meet prominent ghostly residents each night. This “not-too-scary” 75-minute tour is accompanied by musical entertainment, and you can purchase cocktails, soda, and t-shirts.

3. Covington Ghost Tours – Covington

Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm
$30 per person (not recommended for children under age 12)

Bring a camera and flashlight for this 2.5-hour walking tour of historic Covington led by members of the East Georgia Paranormal Group. Known as the “Hollywood of the South,” the town served as the filming location of The Vampire Diaries. 

4. Decatur Ghost Tour – Decatur

Saturdays at 8pm; Additional tours in October
$20 adults, $12 for children 10 and under (cash only)

Owner Boo Newell leads this 2-hour haunted ghost tour through Historic Decatur Square and Old Decatur Cemetery. You’ll hear stories of murder and tragedy while searching for orbs and apparitions. Check out our Guide to Decatur with Kids for fun things to do before the tour starts.

5. Ghosts of Marietta Tour – Marietta

Fridays-Sundays at 7pm (additional tours in October)
$20 adults, $15 for children 12 and under, $17 for students with ID

Listen to ghost stories by lantern light while exploring Marietta Square. Walk through Hangman’s Alley, learn about secret tunnels, and visit Kennesaw House, the site of a hospital and morgue during the Civil War during this 90-minute tour.

6. Haunted Village at Hard Labor Creek State Park – Rutledge

October 19, 2024 from 1:30-4:30pm (ages 6 and up) and 6:30-9:30pm (ages 13 and up)
$8 per person online, $10 at door, $5 parking fee

Walk through Camp Daniel Morgan, the filming site for Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives on a 15-minute trail with eight stops. The daytime option is suited for those 6 and up while the nighttime version is appropriate for those ages 13 and up.

7. Haunted McDonough Ghost Walk – McDonough

Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm
$30 adults, $20 children 12 and under

Gather for a 90-minute, lantern-led tour at the McDonough Welcome Center. Guides will lead groups up to 25 people around the historic square while sharing creepy stories of resident ghosts, including those from the Camp Creek Train Wreck of 1900.

7. Helen Ghosts, Voodoo, and Haunted Trails Tour - Helen

Every night at 8pm

$25 adults, $15 children ages 5-12

You wouldn’t think that Helen, known for its long-running Oktoberfest, is a hotbed of ghostly activity until you take this 90-minute tour. Guides will pass out EMF meters, infrared thermometers, and other ghost-detecting equipment for a truly interactive experience. The route is stroller and wheelchair accessible.

8. The Historic Ghost Walk  – Dahlonega

Thursdays – Sunday at 8pm
$20 adults, $10 children 12 and under

Book reservations for the 1.5-mile ghost tour with stops at over a dozen locations, including the Lumpkin County Courthouse and Vickery House. You’ll learn all about Dahlonega’s storied history, including the Gold Rush of 1829, the removal of the Cherokee Indians, and the Civil War.

10. Judy Harris Memorial Ghost Walk and Hayride – Dawsonville     

October 18-19, 2024 at 7:30pm
$15 adults; $10 children 12 and under

Head to the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame for spooky fun and ghost stories. You’ll travel by hayride to four haunts, including the Old Dawson County Jail and Dawsonville City Cemetery. For extra scares, purchase tickets to the haunted house from 7-11pm.

11. Lawrenceville Ghost Tours – Lawrenceville

Select dates and times: September 13-November 3, 2024
$20 adults, $15 children under age 12

Presented by Aurora Theatre, this annual 90-minute walking ghost tour explores Lawrenceville’s lingering spirits and includes a stop in the Old City Jail. For those ages 13 and older wanting an even scarier experience, sign up for the Haunted Cemetery Tour led by the Aurora Theatre’s Bessie Bones at $25 per person on select nights.

12. Roswell Ghost Tour – Roswell

Fridays and Saturday at 8pm; Additional nights and times in October
$20 adults, $10 for children 12 and under (cash or Zelle only)

For 25 years, Roswell Ghost Tours has been leading tours through Historic Roswell and Founders Cemetery. Families will learn about the town’s history, creepy stories, and possibly see ghostly activity on the 2.5-hour walking tour. Tour proceeds go toward Roswell restoration projects. Private tours or birthday party tours (perfect for teens) are also available. Not recommended for young kids due to tour length

13. Spirits in October - Saints and Sinners – Macon

October 24-27 and November 1-3, 2024, tours begin at 6:30pm
$15 per person, free for children under 5

Purchase tickets for Riverside Cemetery Conservancy’s popular annual event over two weekends. You’ll “meet” some of the cemetery’s ghosts before enjoying snacks at the Macon Public Mausoleum. The tour is appropriate for all ages and not designed to be scary.

Spooky Savannah Ghost Tours

14. Blue Orb’s Shadows of Savannah Family Ghost Tour – Savannah

Wednesdays – Sundays at 8pm
$25 adults, $10 children ages 6-12

Founded by paranormal researcher and author Tobias McGriff, this dog-friendly tour begins under the moss-draped trees at Chippewa Square. Knowledgeable guides will relay stories of ghostly activity while taking you through a historical tour of the Historic District.

15. Fraidy Cat: The Family Fun Ghost Tour of Savannah by Mad Cat Tours – Savannah

Every evening 7pm and 8pm
$24.99 adults, $12.99 children ages 6-12, free ages five and under

Few things are scarier than a cemetery at night. On this 90-minute family tour by Mad Cat Tours, you’ll stroll through Colonial Park Cemetery and the historic district while your tour guide keeps everyone entertained with stories about Savannah’s ghosts.

16. Genteel and Bard’s Savannah Dark History and Ghost Encounter – Savannah

Listen to macabre stories from a professional historian while walking past the Sorrel-Weed House, the “Hanging Square,” and other haunted hot spots. Leashed pets are also welcome on this 2-hour tour.

17. Grave Tales Ghost Tour – Savannah

Meet your tour guide at the Nathaniel Greene statue at Johnson Square. Lasting 90 minutes, the stroller- and wheelchair-friendly walking tour through the historic district and Colonial Park Cemetery is perfect for all ages, combining historical facts and ghost stories about Little Gracie, Alice Riley, and others.  

18. Savannah Ghosts & Gravestones Tour – Savannah

Every night, tour times vary per year
Prices range from $37-$42 per person

Instead of walking by foot, tour Savannah’s most haunted sights aboard the “Trolley of the Doomed.” Lasting a little over an hour, costumed guides will share spooky tales of Georgia’s oldest city with stops at the Andrew Low House and Perkins & Sons Ship Chandlery. With PG-13-rated content and the use of strobe lights, the tour is NOT recommended for children 12 and under. Parents may use their discretion and accompany children ages 6-12, but no one under age 6 is allowed.

Creepy Atlanta Ghost Tours: Know Before You Go

• Wear good walking shoes.
• Check the weather forecast and bring a jacket or umbrella if necessary -- many tours operate rain or shine.
• Arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour begins and bring completed waiver forms.
• Only you know your child’s attention span, stamina, and bravery. Keep in mind that if your child melts down, it disrupts others on the tour.
• Most tours do not have access to restrooms during the tour.
• Tour tickets don’t include gratuities; bring cash to show appreciation to your guide.
